Influence of Writer’s Background
Jack Finney loved traveling and adventures which influenced his writing particularly ‘Time and Again.’ Finney was a celebrated writer because of the historical travel tips he used to offer people (Seabrook 18). In this regard, his many adventures and travels significantly influenced his writing of ‘Time and Again.’ He demonstrated the essence of time in everything the people do especially in travel especially New York. Finney is a person who loved tourism and would carry cameras for memory purposes. His wide experience in travels contributed immensely to his writing.
Influence of Historical Events
‘Time and Again’ by Jack Finney was highly influenced by the historical aspects of New York City. During the 1880s, New Yorkers were excellent regarding time-travel and the recreation of the past (Finney 28). They would take down memory lane and remind themselves of things that happened in the past. For example, the people would want to know what happened during the American Civil War. Jack Finney’s writing was focused on historical events and reminding people some things of the past through fiction.
Character Development
The main character in ‘Time and Again’ by Jack Finney is Simon Morley popularly known as Si. He was a handsome young man but lacked vision and ambition in his life (Seabrook 27). Reading the novel, one gets to know his perception of life as meaningless, lacked feeling, pointless, and empty.
