Nurses of the contemporary times need to a high level of information literacy. Information literacy is an essential virtual as it helps on to organize, collect, retrieve and analyze information to get necessary knowledge for undertaking a particular task. One is able to learn new things and equip himself with skills to handle different situations. Through information literacy, a nurse will recognize how different information is created and will be able to determine its credibility (Johnson, 2015). Thus, one will be able to acknowledge out-of-date false or misleading information.
Becoming an information literate nurse takes hands-on practice over an extended period. One needs to be able to identify a problem when it arises and create questions about it (Pravikoff, Tanner, & Pierce, 2005). After determining the problem, it is essential to come up with a plan for finding the solution and making a prediction. As a nurse, it is necessary to know how and where to find data and information regarding the problem and ensure that the sources are credible. Lastly, one will be able to organize and synthesize all the available data and come up with a valid conclusion on a precise issue (Weng, Chen, & Hsieh, 2016). Information literacy is an essential skill that everyone needs as it helps one does better in personal and public matters. One can be able to recognize the differences between good and wrong information and evaluate the different situation with several perspectives (Cheeseman, 2013).

Through information literacy, I will be able to face detractors by critically analyze a situation and using the information and skill learned to overcome the problem. As I will be well equipped with knowledge and information, I will be able practically to show my colleagues the better and modern ways to face challenges. Also, I will stay open-minded and ready to learn new ways of doing things. I will be able to locate, identify and evaluate information effectively and use it to solve problems.
