LaGuardia Airport

LaGuardia Airport is in New York City- East Elmhurst. The airport is one of the international airports in the United States ranked among the top 20 most crowded and busiest airfields. LaGuardia Airport facility and premises is about 280 hectares. Passenger traffic at the airport has been growing steadily since 2015.
LGA has sufficient ground access systems just like the major airport in the world. The roadway systems to the airport are accessible due to good public infrastructure to the airport. LGA has two functional runways (13/31 and 04/22). (My Air Nav.org, 2016). Public transportation is readily available and diverse. It includes the use of New York buses, which provide transport to the airport, and the payment is by use of a Metro card or exact change in coins. The buses may also lead one to the subways whereby transportation by train take place. The location of the airport makes the access to the airport a struggle to some extent due to airport access road interaction with the other main roads, which may bring about traffic congestion (LaGuardia Media Center, 2016).
According to LaGuardia Media Center (2016), transportation by taxi is also available. The taxis used are metered, and costs depend on the taxi services offered. The New York Taxi and the Commission for Limousines regulate the taxis entering and those leaving the airport. The taxis are located at all airport terminal buildings. All vehicles that enter the airport premises are meant to pick up and drop off passengers and temporarily stop on the La Guardia Airport’s curbs.

There are a variety of vehicle services offered depending on the customer’s choice and luggage.
Parking space at LGA is available on a daily basis. There are rates for parking depending on the parking service offered. Customers may use credit cards or cash to pay a fee. One can also access premium reserved parking through specified protocols upon arranging with the necessary airport agencies (Roh, 2013). LGA has car rental services, which transport customers by a shuttle vehicle free towards Terminal A. A customer can rent a car of his choice; the hiring prices may vary depending on the motor vehicle type and services offered by the agencies.
LGA airport does not provide luggage storage centers. Visitors are neither allowed to leave behind their luggage within the airport premises. However, the airport allows for transportation of luggage across New York City. (National Business Aviation Associations, 2016) Due to the need of expansion of the airport facilities, the construction process has brought about some ground access system limitations, which causes an overall ineffectiveness in the airport (Roh, 2013). For example, the parking spaces have been limited; the issues affect private transportation negatively. The customers are therefore advised to use other means of transport to minimize any form of congestion in the parking lots (LaGuardia Media Center, 2016). This situation also brings about delays and inefficiency in the airport especially during pick up and drops off. This criterion makes the airport limited to current demands expected from an airport (Roh, 2013).
Several adjustments are needed to prepare for the current requirement and projected future needs. LGA airport authority can create awareness in advance to minimize any confusion likely to occur. In their construction plans, they should consider building more parking lots in case of any future development projects or also multi-story parking structure; this would help increase the parking spaces and efficiency in the airport have ground systems (Airport & FBO Info, 2016). Expansion of the parking spaces would also contribute to improving the value of the parking services offered by LaGuardia Airport.
