Managerial tasks are attributed to new challenges necessitating the presence of decisive minds. Managers have demonstrated the power of utilizing both their intuition and the rational problem-solving approach in making crucial conclusions. Notably, appropriate decisions play an influential role when achieving the goals or objectives of an organization. To this effect, Mitchell and Kilgore should employ a rational approach to solve problems and develop an effective management decision about Virginia’s future with the firm.
From the onset, the rational problem-solving design involves six procedures when handling a difficult situation. Defining the prevailing the issue or problem facing the organization is the first step (Van, Joan, and Hans, 5). In this case, Mitchell and Kilgore’s company faces a threat of attracting bad publicity. Indisputably, the company may portray a bad image and reputation towards the customers and the general public. Moreover, the absence of a conducive working environment may affect the workers’ level of productivity. A chaotic atmosphere results in conflict and misunderstanding among the employees.
Secondly, an analysis of the particular matter should be conducted by Mitchell and Kilgore. It is evident that Virginia’s behavior has resulted in discomfort among other workers. Furthermore, Virginia demonstrates poor interpersonal skills. She hardly gets along with her colleagues. The firm is likely to experience poor teamwork.

Thirdly, the approach involves brainstorming suitable alternatives. One of the suggestions is that Virginia should be terminated from the firm. With Virginia’s vast working experience and strong customer base, it is vital to give her caution and a second chance which serves as the other alternative. In addition, the firm should provide Virginia with various interpersonal training (Van et al., 1). These sessions are aimed at enabling her work along the other workers. Taking Virginia to court for wrongly using the company’s name is the last alternative.
Constructing a solution is the fourth step. Mitchell and Kilgore should come up or settle on using a solution that is both effective and less costly. The company should not use much of the resources while mitigating the problem.
Lastly, the best solution towards solving the issue is implemented (Van et al., 12). At this point, it is necessary that the management agrees on releasing Virginia from her position in the organization. Dismissing her ensures the firm controls the stress of recruiting a new laborer after a short term. Staffing is a capital-intensive exercise for any company. Importantly, Virginia should leave the organization because her continuity may be directed towards benefitting herself instead of the firm.
