Education in the 21st Century is all about equipping learners with necessary skills to face the global market. Learning in the present age demands that students have certain skills to succeed in today’s world. Some of these skills include creative thinking, teamwork, and collaboration, critical thinking, and digital literacy (Chu et al., 2016). Because of increased technological dynamics, learning has integrated technology in classrooms, particularly in mathematics education. Mathematics is a field of study that deals with concepts of measurements and counting. The use of technology in the mathematics classroom is aimed at improving students’ conceptualization of the subject.
Digital literacy in contemporary classrooms is high, considering that most students are exposed to technology at a relatively young age. The use of technology in learning mathematics is aimed at giving students the opportunity to apply their familiarity with technology in learning the discipline (Maschietto et al., 2016). Teachers play a critical role in the effective integration of technology in mathematics learning and, therefore, it is important that they are well trained on the appropriate instructional tools to ensure that the tools are in line with their desired needs.
The integration of technology in the classrooms entails establishing an interactive computer environment using devices such as interactive boards, internet connection, and the latest technology infrastructures (Faggiano, Ferrara, & Montone, 2017).

Specific mathematical tools for teaching math concepts include graphic computers, data analysis software, computer-based applications, dynamic geometry environments, and computer-based algebra systems (Polly, 2014). These tools help students in better understanding mathematical concepts and relationships, aside from increasing the access to ideas to support the effective learning of the subject.
If well implemented, the technologies can lead to advanced competencies in mathematical concepts, including reasoning and problem-solving. Overall, technology continues to shape various aspects of life, particularly education. With the integration of technology in learning, education is made easier due to improved understanding of the various concepts. As a distinct academic discipline, mathematics relies on different concepts (such as measurements) that are now integrated with technology to simplify the learning of these complex concepts. However, it is imperative to monitor the use of technology to avoid misuse, which might interfere with the acquisition of crucial skills.
