McDonald’s Restaurant
Introduction
McDonald’s Restaurant is California based fast food store having any branches and restaurants in many countries worldwide. The restaurant operates on a customer satisfaction principles. To achieve this aim of full customer satisfaction, one needs to understand the bureaucracy of its operations. The restaurant follows both the bureaucratic and scientific management in its operations to achieve maximum customer satisfaction (McDonald’s). This paper, therefore, describes the observations made to one of the McDonald’s Restaurant branches about how they serve their customers. The paper continues to relate the operations to the bureaucratic and scientific management principles as well as task design. The following are the observations of McDonald’s procedures;
Customer receivership: customer(s) ushered with a smile from an employee who then directs you to take the order slots.
Taking orders: there are three different ways of taking order namely onscreen, counter, and table ordering. Every ordering means have someone to assist customers.
Onscreen ordering: customer orders through the screen then receive a digital table location device which will be of importance of directing the server to client’s table. After onscreen ordering the client o to wait on their table to receive their orders.
Table ordering: Customers go to their table and order from their using the order menu found on each table. There’s an employee who comes to customer’s table to note the order and bring back.

Wait! McDonald Restaurant paper is just an example!

The employee masters less than four orders while recording more than four orders to avoid getting confused.
Counter ordering: the customer directly goes to eth counter and orders from the counter menu screen and menu booklet. This was mainly common in taking away customers. Customer may decide to wait on the table as the order is under preparation.
The order is receiving: irrespective of the ordering means, after the order is ready, a server comes to customers table and issue the order with a smile and a thank you appreciation.
Payment: order payment is after eating for customers who prefer eating within the restaurant premises while those preferring take away pay immediately after receiving the order. The server comes for payment with a computer generated a bill which contains all the order contents against their prices. They (server) give the customer the bill and receiving cash in return with a smile, a thank you, and a welcome back message to the customer. In case of balance, they go and get it immediately to avoid delaying the customer.
McDonald’s Restaurant follows bureaucratic and scientific management of customers where there is a defined hierarchy starting from welcoming employee to order means directing an employee to the server, and lastly to an accountant. There are rules and regulations which govern employees conduct in the restaurant, as well as recordkeeping and documentation of daily records. There is evidence of organization structure concerning the flow of information from the first employee to the last one serving customers to satisfaction and with limited mistakes (Cengage Learning).
From the McDonald’s Restaurant observation, there is evidence of Mechanistic Task Design. There is a hierarchical flow of information from the receiver, to the order director to the server. The server then directs it to the food preparation employees who prepare, and the servers took it from there and packed it well before taking to the customer. The server then takes information to the accountant who receives order amounts and issue bills. The accountant will then submit the daily income report to senior officials. This, therefore, relates McDonald’s Restaurant to Mechanistic Task Design (Morgan).
