Media Image and Representation of Sexualities
What the world looked like for the folks that grew up in the 20th century is very different from what is visible today. Slowly the world is transforming to a real ‘free world.’ People no longer care much of what is said of their actions. Queer behaviors were rare in the 1990s and not a common sight in the media. The existence of televisions shows such as Sex and The City, the L Word, and Will and Grace are a sign of the changing world.
Over time people who thought of changing their gender were considered to be mentally ill before the idea of gender choosing became popular in the late 1990s and gained public limelight in the 21st century. Human rights activists have been at the forefront championing the rights of people with unusual behaviors. However, notwithstanding the advancement in the realm of human rights, transgenders, gays, and bisexuals have always feared for their lives. In Queer Eye, the participants engage in physical activities aimed at ensuring their security or advancing their self-defense techniques for such persons have not been fully accepted into society.
In Queer Eye, Goff is predicted to be the weak person who needs more protection as Goff was born a lady but wishes to identify as a man. It is after the introduction of Goff into Queer Eye that the aspect of physical exercise for self-defense gets introduced. As much as all the participants in Queer Eye are either transsexual or bisexual they still believe they are no greater risk than Goff since what can hurt them is a broken relationship and not physical encounters.

Wait! Media Images and Representation of Sexualities paper is just an example!

What stands out is that some sexuality is considered inferior to others. The sexuality chosen by Goff appears to be inferior when compared to the sexuality of the other five.
Videos and images that are of transsexual nature and any other behavior or act that is deemed unconventional have been used by content creators to increase the views of their production. The television show Ellen was replaced by Will and Grace; reportedly Will and Grace had more views that the predecessor show. Queer Eye, the introduction of Goff aims at increasing the audience of the show by accommodating a person of Goff’s nature. The L word television production is meant for a greater audience notwithstanding the fact that it is a lesbian only production.
Activists and other human rights conscious persons who wish to push the agenda of equal rights for the LGBT community to the center stage of politics have engaged images and videos to realize this agenda. The introduction of Goff into Queer Eye diverts role of the video from just a normal life of straight guys to the acceptance of marginalized persons into society. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community believes that they need no correction since they know what they are doing; it is the hegemonic society that needs to change their view of the world.
In conclusion, the LBGT community together with human rights activists and content creators has been in the front wedging a war of acceptance and accordance of same rights as other straight persons to the LGBT. Being weak, lacking equality and exploitation by content creators are the issues that the LGBT community faces each day of their lives.
