Social media is one of the inventions that has revolutionized the current world. It has helped to create a global village and played a role in bringing people closer together. Personally, I find it not only intriguing but also an informative tool that is of great use today. I like engaging in the use of social media, owing to the immense opportunities that it offers me. Although I take enough caution to ensure that I do not engage in its use so much, I use some of the spare time on social media. In the paper, I am to provide my personal views regarding it.
I find that social media has more advantages to offer, as opposed to some of the downsides that it may be having. For instance, I commonly use it to keep in touch with some of my family members and friends who could be in far-away places. The bond between us keeps getting stronger. This accords me the satisfaction that we have not fallen out one another. The use of social media also creates the illusion of having a physical contact with someone. This therefore bridges the distance between my loved ones and I.
I also like using social media to learn new things that happen locally and around the world. On Twitter, I follow some of the major conventional media such as CNN and the New York Times. I also follow various notable people through whom I gain some connection with the outside world. I can also learn about some of the new trends that have come up. For instance, any new Apple and Microsoft products are well known on social media before their release.

Marketing of products is done on the platform and achieves its purposes. Social media also grants me the chance to learn about new music and films that have been released.
Quite notably, Social media has been essential to my academic life. I have been able to keep contact with my classmates. It offers us the chance to share insights regarding some of the concepts we have learned. It also provides me the chance to seek clarification on some of the areas that may have escaped my understanding during class time. I also get the chance to share some important reading materials with others. This way, the learning environment has been made less stiff.
I also get to social media to engage in worthwhile discussions regarding various social and political issues that are of interest. For instance, I usually get the chance to discuss with others regarding my views on taxation and immigration. Through such discussions, one gets to express themselves to others as well as get new ideas. I believe that social media should be a tool through which I could take full advantage of my intellectuality and support it.
In conclusion, I can establish that social media, if used well, can be of great importance. In my capacity, I use it as an information tool which can enable me to gather a lot of insights with regards to some of the occurrences that take place around me. It also gives me the chance to discuss with others with regards to some information that is of importance nationally. Social media has also been of great effect on my academic life.
