Personal Statement
My central focus in life is in transforming the world and reaching out to those in need. It has been my focus to change the world one person at a time since it is challenging to reach out to everyone in need at the same time. I have been reaching out to diverse individuals through my career and volunteerism. I would love to join the Peace Corps since it is one global organization that would help me attain both my professional and personal goals of transforming the world. Due to its various duties, this organization is viewed as the ultimate development organization in the globe and I desire to be a part of this great institution.
The first reason as to why I would like to join the Peace Corps is because I have a passion for volunteerism. I have volunteered several times and I still have the spirit and energy to reach out to many people. I first volunteered in the year 1995 in Bolivia. I was with the Salesian Lay Volunteer where I had to work with street children and orphans. At times it would be difficult to understand the plight of orphans and street kids until when you get a chance to interact with them. During my stay in Bolivia, I involved myself in various activities such as cleaning, cooking, taking children on outings, facilitating adoptions, and teaching basic literacy. It was a fulfilling experience since I participated in transforming the lives of orphans and street children. Apart from volunteerism in Bolivia, I have also been a volunteer in different organizations.

In the year 2015, I was in Braga, Portugal volunteering with the Habitat for Humanity. Further, during summer of 2016, I was engaged with the International Rescue Committee where I volunteered as a mentor for refugees in Elizabeth (New Jersey). I do volunteer because I have a passion for it and I would like to make the world a better place by reaching out to those that need my assistance. My vast volunteering experiences are a proof of my dedication towards making the world a better place and by getting an opportunity at Peace Corps I will continue with this initiative of transforming the globe and humanity.
The second reason as to why I would like to join the Peace Corps is my passion for promoting global health. I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician from the Centrelink State College, Pa. With my EMT certification, I will be an asset to your organization because my skills can be used to carry out life-saving techniques. Apart from the EMT, I can also contribute in educating humanity regarding health issues because I am a tutor by profession.
Lastly, I would like to join the Peace Corps since this is the right time for me to get involved with an organization centered towards making the world better. My kids are almost getting out of school and so getting an opportunity to work with the Peace Corps will not impact their academic or personal lives tremendously. Further, I know several global languages such as German, Spanish, Irish, and French hence making me better placed to work in several parts of the world without encountering any communication breakdown.
Kindly consider my request since my past experiences speak a lot about me. I believe I am the best suited candidate for Peace Corps when it comes to achieving the organization’s short-term and long-term goals.
