Response on the Essays “First Day Freshman at 46” and “Learning the Hard Way”
Different people have different writing styles factoring in their emotional dispositional at the time of writing, their experience and knowledge and skills in the language of choice. After reading the two essays, one could substantiate the difference in the styles of writing, the mastery of grammar, their use of punctuations, prowess in formatting and general flow and captivating capacity of the essays. Regarding the memorability capacity of the individual literatures, the essay titled “First Day Freshman at 46” scored more than the other essay. In this essay, the writer narrates of his first day at school and the associated challenges. The experience is compounded by the fact that he is shortsighted and he thinks that college life will be hard. The student goes through various challenging instances from being profiled to not being able to trace their way around the school. Finally, the writer is able to cope with school life despite being shortsighted.
However, the essay “Learning the Hard Way” did a better job of grasping my attention. The writer of this essay uses simple language and well-constructed short sentences which helps one to identify with the emotional elements of the essay which helps a reader to maintain memorable sensory details (Redman & Wendy Maples 87). For instance, when the writer describes how he would shuffle past the lonely flagpole.

Wait! Narrative Essay. paper is just an example!

He says that he could liken the flag to himself. Overall the essay “Learning the Hard Way” greatly influenced the strategy I would use in my paper. First, the essay is written concisely with well-structured sentences and secondly, the author flow of thoughts is well organized which makes the piece easily readable thus one can connect each event in the writer’s experience at school.
