Similar to several other survivors at the concentration camps, Ellie Wiesel was starved. Their frames were just like skeletons with skin on them when they got liberated. It’s not just his body that died but also his mental state. The faith he had in God diminished due to the horrors he watched over and over again. The Nazis were very inhumane in the way they mistreated the people at the camps and thus Wiesel no longer found comfort in God. In the past, Wiesel was extremely spiritual and had the deep need in him to learn more and more about God. The death of the young boy who was hanged at the camp made him lose his faith in God as he couldn’t find answers as to why it happened. When Ellie came into the camps he had relatives and parents who died and thus he died too as he was nobody’s son and after liberation from the camps, his family had all been killed. He felt he died as his father’s son too as he wasn’t there when his father needed him. The camp changed Ellie and he died as he no longer was the person who came into the camp. All he experienced in the camp changed him dramatically.
Wiesel started living again because when he left the camp, he was totally changed and focused on rebuilding his life and himself like a concentration camp survivor.
Wiesel named the book night to symbolize darkness of one’s soul, passing and loss of his faith. The scene maybe set during the day but night is invoked.

Wait! Night paper is just an example!

The night is a metaphor used to show us how the soul was lost in suffering and lack of hope.
Memory with a face signifies how confronted with the moral barrenness of their foes; it’s our duty to show greater sensitivity to challenges and moral issues. Also, those who place their belief in death should know it’s not the proper way to fight for their cause.
