Abstract
Operational art is regarded as one of the most important topics in understanding the strategic plan of military actions. In this paper, the author utilizes critical review and analytical skills to respond to the articles regarding operational art and design. In both papers, it is apparent that operational art is important attrition in determining the success of failure in warfare. Although modern society has the provision of harnessing innovation and technology to improve efficiency, the study of the center of gravity in the context of the military is the most elaborate in determining the victory. Fundamentally, an operational art involves vision, culmination and ability to anticipate joint cooperation by the military personnel. Nonetheless, the second post failed to address the significance of culmination in the case of the military dimension. Thus, the paper critically examines the alternative approach that would have increased the credibility of the writer’s discussion.

In the first post, the writer investigates the implications of the operational art in the context of military operations. Notably, it one of the essential topics in explaining the strategic organizations of the military plans in warfare (Air University, n.d.). Although the operational art has various essential elements, the author sticks to the most fundamental one which is centers of gravity.

Arguably, centers of gravity appear to the most critical feature of operational art because it explains the strategic level of military force that is required to weaken the enemy in warfare. It is the most elaborate concept because it assists the senior commanders to identify the sources of power for their enemies and utilize the intelligence to organize an attack that will neutralize them (Air University, n.d.). In the contemporary battlefields, the concept is inevitable for the commanders to understand the dynamics of conflict and utilize the knowledge to think critically for success.

In the second post, the writer attempts to define the vital purpose of operational art in setting the strategic goals in the army. The author succinctly expounds on how the concept can be integrated to enhance and understand the approaches to decision-making. Apart from the concept of center of gravity, it is commendable that the author acknowledges elements such as Line of Effort and Line of Operation.
From my perspective, attacking the enemy from their most fierce sources of strength is a crucial step in the path of victory. Although the writer recognizes the ability to integrate innovation and technology in the process, the analytical skills to understand the enemies’ COG is the most outstanding policy for applying force (Air University, n.d.). Conversely, the writer should have explored more ideas that can justify termination as an integrated approach in the present-day battleground. Exploration of this concept would strengthen not only the content but also reveal the transitional instruments for victory in warfare.
