Overview
On November 15, 2015, Paris launched an all-out war on terror following the city’s chilling attack by the Jihad terrorists. The president, Francis Hollande declared a state of Emergency in France and deployed armed police to carry out a colossal manhunt in major cities like Brussels, and Paris to capture the prime suspect Salaah Abdeslam and his accomplices.
Do you agree with the raid?
I concur with the 168 raids because I believe they were instrumental in apprehending the criminals and cracking down on radicalization thus enhancing the war on terror. According to Vinograd (2015), the police revoked French nationalities of over 100 immigrants who had any ties with the Jihad group. Their thorough searches saw to the acquisition of a disproportionate number of terror weapons like rocket launchers, military-grade giant bombs, and sniper rifles. These efforts went a long way towards slowing down the occurrence of another attack on France soil. Also, the arrested suspects surrendered information that led the forces to the mastermind.
Case scenario in the USA
If these raids happened in the USA, they would have detrimental aftermath on the property and innocent civilians. Arguably, the US police have become gravely militarized hence it is more of a threat than a safe haven for the people. In these terror-related instances, the law enforcement assumes the law of an out-of-control paramilitary group. They use excessive force and turn neighborhoods and private residents into war zones characterized by disorderliness, loss, and injury of people, and immense damage of property.

Wait! PARIS paper is just an example!

Also, coordinating such a manhunt with Belgium would be a long shot owing to America’s poor foreign policy which has only severed the strained relationship with terror groups.
Other methods of combating terrorism
Countries need to address the issue of Islamic extremism from the root cause perspective by dealing with the deep-seated anger harbored by the extremist Iraqi originals that act as the breeding ground for terror. They could also deflect people’s violent thoughts by cultivating a culture of inclusivity and equality for all races and religious affiliations. Another compelling practice is instilling stringent surveillance measures via intelligence agencies to monitor communications among the likely targets. For instance, the military could employ the target-centric intelligence cycle that involves a coordinated search and exploitation process to capture terrorist subjects.
