Personal Statement for Pharmacy Graduate Program
My passion to acquire vast knowledge and experience in the pharmacy profession has been successful and of significant importance to the community. Since I graduated from the King Saudi University in 2012 with a pharmacy degree, I have been able to serve in many community health care centers and hospitals helping people to learn the right procedures of taking medication. Working as a pharmacist has earned me a variety of licenses that include the CMPI, HIPAA, CPR/ AED and APA Pharmacy-based Immunization permits. I have also acquired a pharmacy professional experience through practicing at Ohud Hospital in Saudi Arabia; I improved my prescription, patient counseling, and dispensing skills. Additionally, I have acquired APPE through practicing in a number of healthcare organizations that include family health center; which exposed me to ambulatory care, Saint Vincent Hospital; where I gained internal medicine skill, Chicopee health center; that exposed me to community pharmacy practice skills and MGH-Emerson Cancer Center; which exposed me to Oncology experience. However, the pharmaceutical practice has not provided me with experience in historical, political, quality, psychological and economic factors involving therapeutic modalities. In this regard, pursuing the PEPPOR program at UNM will enlighten me in the cost analysis of drugs. Also, it will enable me to apply social interdisciplinary and behavioral theories in pharmaceutical practice.

Generally, the program will better my prescription criteria and ensure improved patient outcomes.
I also have experience in introductory pharmacy acquired through practicing as a PharmD graduate in a variety of healthcare organizations that include Woodmark pharmacy; this exposed me to institutional pharmacy practice, target Pharmacy; where I gained skills in community pharmacy practice and King Fahad Hospital; where I gained skills in receiving and filling prescriptions. However, I faced challenges in efficiency and patient outcomes; in this regard, I intend to enroll and study the PHOP program to learn on applying technological, social behavioral and organizational perspectives in pharmaceutical practice.
I practiced as an assistant instructor at Taibai University in the clinical pharmacy department; this exposure improved my skills in counseling and mentoring students. However, the experience from teaching did not satisfy my initial objective of pursuing a pharmaceutical career. In this regard, I am intending to pursue PHOP program at UH that will enable me to acquire knowledge on patient care approaches. I will be able to integrate my student-centered experience in patient care such that patient-interest will be a priority during prescription. The PHOP program will also enable me to understand patient needs for guidance and counseling thus effect it from an informed and professional perspective.
I have a good foundation in research that I gained through participating in different scholarly studies. For instance, I worked as a graduate researcher at MCPHS and Taibah universities where I gained basic skills in data collection, analysis, method evaluation, manuscript drafting, distributing pharmaceutical surveys and writing proposals. The skills and experience from this exposure limit me from participating in advanced research that involves pharmacoeconomic terms, health behavior, and pharmacoepidemiology; in this regard, I am interested in enrolling and pursuing the HSOR program at WVU that will improve my advanced research skills effectively.
I have written different research works in medical care; this has improved my research skills. Some of my research works include pharmacists prescribing approaches in Saudi Arabia; in this research, I utilized an interview research design and collected information on pharmaceutical care. I conducted and wrote a research on oral chemotherapy drugs with an objective of creating awareness on the cost of monthly survival for different oral antineoplastic agents in addition to evaluating their medical and economic viability. The method for the study was reviewing a list of chemotherapy agents regarding dosing, schedule, indicators and cost from the lex-comp catalog. I have conducted a research in 4-FPCC with the objective of establishing patient response to laboratory tests. The study design was a retrospective cohort approach. I also intend to conduct a research on the cost effectiveness of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors. The research will employ a literature review research design.
The skills that I have gained through different exposure and practice indicate my passion and ability to pursue more knowledge in the pharmacy profession. Intellectually, and financially, I am prepared to study for a Ph.D. program in HSOR at WVU, PEPPOR at UNM and PHOP at UH, which will enable me to gain further research skills and improve my viability to the society and healthcare centers.
