Personal Reflection on Love
I loved Janie as a character because she fights until she found her love. But unfortunately not all the people have the same courage and front the obstacles of their life as in the case of Janie. Recalling my experience was very different from that of Janie and had a worse ending. However, the story had strong teaching in my life and a good reflection of life in its perspective.
In a glimpse, my story began many years ago when I come to the United States. After I got the residence, some of my cousins submitted an appointment to meet a guy who was from my country as well. We dated for a while, and after six months the guy decided to elevate our relationship to the next level by planning a wedding, I could not hide my happiness as finally, I knew we could settle and build a happy family. However, my happiness was short lived. I remember a few weeks after our marriage arrangement; I received a friend suggestion on Facebook. I was curious to see who the person was since the profile; I could see the girl hugging the person I am supposed to marry. After a few research and investigation on the issue, I identified that the guy was actually in a relationship with the girl in my Facebook suggestion. Worse, he wanted to marry me not because he loved me, but because he would get the residence in the United States and all this was a plan. This experience was very hurting and humiliating. I felt disappointed and heartbroken, and since then I decided to avoid the person, and since then we had never talk.

Wait! personal reflection paper is just an example!

In conclusion, based on the love story of Janie and reflecting on my life as well as the nature of contemporary society, love does not exist, and if it exists, it is not enough. Today, people do not follow their heart when dating or marring. Instead, they look at the economic situation of their partner, their social class and influence (Traska 394). The story of Janie relates to the new generation’s view of love. Nowadays, love has a financial benefit attached to it. Looking at the case of Janie, her first and second marriages were based on financial gain. Janie’s grandmother chose for her the first husband based on his wealth in the belief that Janie will find love with time. Janie married Joe Starks due to his wealth as a consummate politician, a businessman, a postmaster, mayor and the biggest landlord in Eatonville. Today few couples fall in love and stay beside each other even at the face of financial crisis.
