Attention Lowa Central students,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for allowing me to bring to your consideration one of the most unnoticed issues affecting our daily lives. More often than not, students make rounds between lecture halls, cafeterias, libraries, computer rooms, and hostels, leaving little or no time for physical exercises. Research shows that college life cannot be any better with a four-inch spare tire around one’s waist. Instead of adding positively to one’s performance and general health, physical inactivity makes students increasingly lazy and tubby. Scientific evidence shows regular exercises provide crucial cognitive benefits that can make students’ scholarly struggles a little less taxing. Consequently, it is my pleasure to inform you that we, as students, are all in need of psychological and health benefits throughout our lifetime.
I assume that no student will argue otherwise as it is true that exercise is extremely helpful not only to the body but also to overall performance in the classroom. Be that as it may, I am unsure all of us often create time to exercise, but regardless of the situation, I would like to encourage every student to get out of his comfort zone and have some exercises.
Probably, one might be wondering why I am deeply concerned about our inactivity, as students. Well, lack of physical exercises is detrimental to our health. It is undoubtedly true that cardiovascular disease, which is among the number one killer diseases in the country, is caused by inactivity.

Physical inactivity causes clogs in blood vessels and consequently, impedes the proper circulation of blood in the body and leads to the grave incidence of heart disease. Statistically, this leads early deaths. As the famous adage goes, prevention is better than cure. Here, the prevention criterion is to start physical activities as early as now.
Further, it is also important to note that we, college students, are not in fine fettle as we tend to think. A survey by Dargavel et al. shows that high school seniors often have better health than college students because they always engage in more physical activities than college students (Dargavel et al. 564). This trend stems from the fact that college students’ schedules are packed with intensive academic activities unlike high seniors,’ and they lack the motivation to exercise. The more we reduce our physical activities, the more we get on the verge of decline. Many students have little or no time to run around because they study more. Additionally, it is also true that many students give up on sports and view them as a waste of time. Moreover, now that we in are in college, our motivation to exercise declines day by day, making us vulnerable to ill-health conditions.
The bottom line is that exercise should be an intrinsic thing among students, but, statistically, that has not been the case. We are so reluctant to exercise, not knowing that our inactivity today may result in our inactivity tomorrow, and subsequently, the reduction of our lifespan. A relevant question to ask in this regard is if anybody would not wish to live longer. Certainly, it is the dream of every student to have a long lifespan and accomplish his goals.
Exercises do not require hefty investments, but they have substantial benefits, especially, to those students who engage in them regularly. As students, we should try as much as possible to exercise so that we take advantage of its health benefits. In exercising, one does not have to lift heavy weights for excessively long hours. An exercise takes as petite as 10 minutes a day. Studies show that exercises clear one thoughts to more efficient enhances body resistance, reduces one chance of getting ill, and boosts one’s performance in academic studies. So, let us make it our habit to exercise frequently. By so doing, we will be able to lead a healthy life, today and in the future.
