Abstract
The police department plays a significant part in ensuring that the community is safe. Throughout the years nevertheless, the public, as well as academics, have aired their worries on the subject of racial segregation, police force, and internal corruption as well as other forms of misbehavior by the police departments. This paper will analyze the subject of police brutality through the lens of disproportionate violence against the African-American civilians. This paper will focus on the black community and examine the racial profiling that is done by the police department on these particular groups of people. Additionally, by stating the issues and causes of police brutality, we will be able to formulate appropriate solutions that can be used to end the use of force by the police on civilians. Some of the solutions include training, change of governance and strict policies. In addition, the public and institutions such as Black Lives Matters should enhance awareness by educating the public on their human rights and the need to speak up about police brutality they have experienced.

The police department plays a crucial role in the society. They act as the protectors and ensure the safety of all individuals. All through the years nonetheless, civilians, as well as scholars, have raised concerns on the matters of police brutality, racial prejudice, internal corruption and other types of delinquency by the police departments (Nodjimbadem, 2017).

Some researchers purport that several of these issues are misinterpreted by the Media and also taken out of context. In short, they believe that these officers of the law are merely doing their job. Others stipulate that these occurrences can be traced back to poor governance, training, and policies. Moreover, some selected few insist on the change of the entire police system. This paper will evaluate and discuss the subject of police brutality especially in the African-American community.
Police brutality is an intricate concept to describe since a large number of officers hold a distinctive place in the US society. These men and women are the only ones permitted by law to use real force against civilians in the routine exercise of their tasks. Even though the legal description of police brutality seems precise, it is evident that it is rather hard to eradicate the connotations that envelop the phrase and influence for it is used. Nearly all of the actions surrounding police force are linked to racial profiling. There are also some groups that are at risk of always being subjected to police brutality. They entail the African American community, drug addicts, elderly, women and the poor individuals. Police brutality can only be stopped if the public and the city officials work together in solving this issue. For example, the police can help by changing their administrative organ. For instance, individuals who file reports against police officers should be anonymous, and an external investigation should be done instead of internal due to police bribery and corruption.
