Regime of Vladimir Putin

During his tenure as the president, Vladimir Putin came up with policies which had an impact economically for the different regions and also affected civil liberties. During his early times as a president, there were efforts of creating a ‘vertical power’ which aimed at expanding the federal subjects. There was every effort to ensure that Russia sticks to her traditions and circumstances, rather than imitating the American or the European ways of economy and liberty. The regime Vladimir Putin worked towards maintaining the uniqueness in the political and economic realms, (Ganev, 498). It was the effort of maintaining the uniqueness that led to terming of the regime as “sovereign democracy.”
During his first administration, there was economic growth of up to 7 % per year. Such were significant gains holding everything constant. There was also a 76% growth of industry while investment grew by over 100%. Much of the economic growth was in attribution to the creation of National Champions by the regime. This aspect regarded the creation of companies with vertical integration in the strategic sectors for economic uplifting. The companies were not aiming only at making profits; rather there was much focus on advancing the interests of the nation.
There was also the creation of the stabilization fund which would receive funding from the stable sectors. For example, enormous benefits from the oil industry would go towards the stabilization. However, there was not a positive reception of the tactics of the economy by Ukraine.

Following the misgivings from Ukraine, there has been a downfall of the energy prices. Such prices usually have a significant impact on the economy; hence, their destruction means suffering on the side of the economy. There is, therefore, an economic recession in Russia. The regime, therefore, though it appeared to come with many real adventures, in the long run, there has been various negative impacts with which the country is still grappling.
Tribulations of the achievements of former Soviet block
Since 1989, there have been numerous accomplishments and tribulations of the former Soviet bloc Eastern European states. The achievements include the socio-economic transformations whereby; there was every effort to seek stability in the economic realms, (Delcour, 321). The political sphere was also in the right gear following the deliberate distribution of the means of production. Such efforts came from the realizations that there cannot be a stable growth of economy without engagement in production. Adoption of the communist ideals led to the success in the social and economic realms whereby; there was the elimination of the bourgeoisie’s social and financial power through expropriation. There was the insistence of the adoption of communism in the critical departments such as the secret police as well as the general police.
Much of the tribulations were in areas such as Berlin. Following the engagements, there was blockage of the arrival of food and material suppliers especially in the Western parts of Berlin. There was also an extended view of those in power as being a threat to the marginal groups. Such views were detrimental to both the ruling and the marginalized. The ruling class felt that there was a lack of trust and little appreciation of their effort, hence the lack of the right motivation in carrying out the administrative duties. On the other hand, the marginalized lived in fear. Following the mistrusts, there was a high failure of distinguishing between the police and the ruling people.
