Directed by Cameron Covell, the short film entitled the Most Beautiful Thing is one of the most inspirational movies ever aired. This film which takes eleven minutes got published on the fifteenth of May the year 2012 and is watched by many fans worldwide. This movie is worth watching because it has a real touch with life hence a great inspiration. Life has a way of happening such that during the lowest moments one meets with the most unexpected experiences. It is while wallowing in the depths of emptiness that a particular spirit of fulfillment overwhelms people by sudden exposure to life occurrences.
While watching this short film by Covell, such an intriguing aspect of life get presented. This film serves to show that even during the darkest and most lonely situations there is always hope. The events of this film are a representation of real life happenings. Therefore, it is in this regard that this paper is written to highlight the fact that life has a lot to offer even during the lowest instances (Covell, 2012). Moreover, this movie shows the value of appreciating being the way it is as it outlines an aspect of disability that requires the appreciation for smooth interaction.
The movie is scripted and showcased in the best way possible. The musical effects as well as the setting work hand in hand to bring out the emotions of the film vividly. An example is a chair where Brandon continually sits at all alone to study at the beginning.

This place is full of quiet and loneliness. The events showing Brandon calling on to an empty house and him walking along the deserted school corridors also work to communicate the aspect of emptiness in his life (Covell, 2012). This movie tackles an essential fact of life that is elevated when Brandon receives the brochure talking about prom.
This advertisement is a life changer for him as it gives him the courage to get out of the shell of shyness. This courage makes him talk to Emily who joins him to study at his famous spot, and this marks the blooming of love and joy in his life. Brandon does not discriminate against Emily when he realizes that she is deaf instead he appreciates her, and they bond into a tight friendship that cultivates to love. The films main aim is to show that disability does not hinder one from falling in life as love is boundless. Moreover, it stresses on the aspect of appreciating others regardless of their weaknesses (Covell, 2012). Through appreciation, we get encouraged to adopt ways of adjusting our lifestyle and even learning their way of life to help them positively.
The dominant theme in this film is love and how it finds us when we least expect. Other aspects of friendship and jealousy get equally explored though not in an in-depth manner. According to Covell (2012), there is a notable shift in the screenplay, acting, and the direction taken. This change happens as the storyline continues from the beginning towards the end. At the beginning of the movie, we notice slowness in the camera shots as well as the actions by the characters, but as the film develops and takes shape, the casts are more active in their roles thus fitting the feelings expressed and the music accordingly.
Symbolism as a literary technique is used appropriately to relay the message to the audience. The two main characters continuously use writings and drawings in a book to understand each other. The use of sign language equally takes center stage in the film as it is the only way that Emily can express herself. The characterization is also epic as each person knows how to relay their emotions in line with the actions. In every change of act, Brandon and Emily adjust accordingly hence the natural flow of the story development. The early introduction of the prom event prepares the viewer for what to expect in the later stages of the film which is the aspect of Brandon looking for and finding a prom date (Covell, 2012). Therefore, the concept of foreshadowing has gotten adequately blended into the film.
It is likely that anyone would be interested in this short film regardless of their age. Although the actors of the movie are teenagers, the message put across has a moral lesson that is valuable. The storyline is so touching and reflects reality. The teachings on acceptance or appreciation of others and the turn of life events are issues people easily relate to their own lives.
Evidently, this film has positively shown that disability is neither a weakness nor an individual fault thus no need to discriminate against the disabled. Instead, love overpowers everything, and everyone can find love with anyone. However, the shortness of the film hinders the writer from showcasing some acts at a depth that are equally meant to pass the intended message. Instances where Brandon calls out to his parents expecting to get a response, but none comes his way might be said to depict more about his loneliness yet the audience does not get more from the film to reach this conclusion. This movie is the best regarding the message it was meant to portray hence there is no better film Covell could have scripted.
