All through my life, I have always hoped to become a lawyer, and this was an essential factor in my choice of Law as a course of study. However, due to given circumstances, it was mandatory that I seek asylum in the United States. This forced me to put a pause in my learning, and I later decided to continue in the United States. Studying in the United States has been a tedious affair for me considering that I have had to take two jobs to support my education as well as my life in the country. This means that I have had to work double shifts and twice as hard to manage to make ends meet for me.
Despite the different challenges, the lack of support from my family among other things, I have resolved to work hard and achieve my dream of becoming an attorney. The asylum seeker must justify their reason for wanting to stay in a given country, which takes time (Herlihy et al. 4).Therefore; the delay in my asylum case is a hindrance towards achieving this dream. However, I would not want to wait for the completion of the case before I can finish the course.
My desire to be a lawyer also pushed me to volunteer at the City Office although after some time I started getting paid for my services. I also currently volunteer for an online magazine where I translate and write articles that create awareness on the rights of homosexuals. I have also volunteered to work Women rights organizations and Child Laborers. I have a work permit that has enabled me to volunteer and work in the country.

I believe that my acceptance into your institution will enable me access better scholarship opportunities above what I stand to get at the Loyola Law School. Initially, at Loyola, I got $25,000 scholarship. However, considering the financial constraints, I could not pursue the course at the institution. Therefore, your acceptance into the University of California and award of the better scholarship will allow me to focus on my education, which will enable me to be a competent lawyer in future with a wide range of experience. I trust that my admittance into your institution will help me in getting the exposure that I need in achieving my dream within the requisite time especially regarding the scholarship for my degree.
