Social Equality
There are many types of equality trending discusions ranging from unequal treatment for unequal, equal treatment for equals, social justice, to fundamental fairness. Fundamental equality refers to even-handedness in specific essentials areas alone and not others. For example, citizens may have equal rights to life but unequal freedom of movement and association. Same treatment for equal and unequal treatment seeks to rationalize the idea that some individuals are inferior or superior to others and therefore should be given a different treatment from others by being denied some rights available to others or accorded special privileges unavailable to others (Thompson 12). Social equality, on the other hand, refers to a state of affairs where all individuals are equal under the law. Hence, it is apparent that apart from social equality, all other forms of equality seek to address a particular aspect of social justice. Therefore, out of them all, the quality of social balance in society helps me understand the concept of justice. I regard equality as fair treatment for all regardless of their political association, backgrounds, race, and ethnicity among other primary lines of social stratifications. While other descriptions seek to explain a particular aspect of equality, I find social equality the best approach to explain the meaning of justice as it summarizes all other explanations.

A country with social equality portrays a society with no discrimination by disability, health, income, language, gender, class, and caste. Social equality also includes equal opportunities for employment and education. In this regard, for a society to be part of social justice, it should seek to have no legally enforced social boundaries and no discrimination based on a person’s ethnic identity (Thompson 9).
Social equality manifests in different sectors including education. The idea of education for all is a perfect example of a concept found in socially similar communities. Therefore, a socially equal society would seek to remove the boundaries and ensure that there are no more advantageous or less advantageous groups in the nation. The concept provides that there are fairness and justice in dealing with all people regardless of their ethnic group, educational and family backgrounds, and race. More importantly, social equality is devoid of differentiation, and it represents equity in all aspects (Thompson 12). Social justice would dictate the treatment of both equals and unequal and the fundamental rights of individuals.
In defining liberalism, Ronald Dworkin states that a liberal government treats its citizens with equal respect and concern. Also, the government considers all citizens equal or nearly equal when it comes to the distribution of resources and opportunities (Kelly 1). Therefore, it is evident that Dworkin advocates for social equality as it relates to the state of being equal particularly in regards to opportunities, rights, and status. Dworkin states that in delivering services to the citizens, it is essential that the government gets to understand the citizens it is serving and what constitutes a good life for them. As he states, such understanding helps in treating the citizens as equal and also helps in getting rid of all the available boundaries. Importantly, social equality enhances the government’s commitment to promoting equity in public policy formation, justice, and fairness (Kelly 1).
Contrasted with the ideas of equal treatment for the fair, unequal treatment for the unequal and fundamental equality social equality best explains the concept of justice in the society. While other notions illustrate a particular aspect of fairness, social equality encompasses all the elements to give a comprehensive meaning of equality.
