Machismo is defined as an ideology that covers a set of attitudes, behaviors, social practices, and beliefs aimed at promoting the superiority of man over women. This doctrine has been evidenced since ancient times through poems, stories, stories, movies, among others;However, it cannot be denied that this radical ideology has fading throughout history, to the point that numerous people today see this situation as something totally foreign. However, in today’s world it is possibleMen reach 9.8%, while women at 16.9%, a worrying figure considering that women are the largest population in the country.

In important historical facts, it has been possible to register machismo, on social, cultural, scientific and political aspects;In the same way in the daily life of people, which was always affected by this ideology.

In the scientific field a known example of this situation can be found in the life of Marie Curie in the 18The aforementioned culture. However, this woman was no exception to this discriminating doctrine, as she was marginalized in different aspects;The most notorious were by the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden which he refused to award Marie Curie a Nobel Prize for being a woman. However, thanks to her husband Pierre Curie, the committee decided to include it in the nomination since the scientist threatened to reject the Nobel for discrimination against Marie. Taking this into account, the responsibility that machismo still exists, does not lie in its entirety in a single gender, if not in the influence of the mentality of past generations, affecting the behaviors and thinking of current societies.

In conclusion, even when machismo has been dissipating as the years, at present, it is still present in lesser intensity, becoming almost imperceptible because of the custom we have been adopted before this culture;which in the past affected all the fields of daily living and persists in some of the present. In my opinion the effort we must make to achieve the elimination of this ideology in its entirety requires a change in thinking of both genres in society.
