Introduction
I find myself much on social media and playing video games many times. The bad part is that much time is spent on social media should have been spent studying or building relationships with friends and family. From reading The Circle, I now understand that I need to get back my life by prioritizing what is more important than spending time staring on machines that are a result of technology.
The Circle is a science fiction genre book. Written by Dave Eggers, The Circle is a book that explains the life of a young fresh graduate lady from college, ready to encounter the world. She joins one of the leading internet company called The Circle. With its high information technology, it has merged uses of the social networks, for example, Facebook, YouTube, Google and all others into one gorgeous ideology. Through this social connectivity, their customers can get what they need within a solitary identity called Truyou. Digging deeply, the company technology can feature out an ideology of openness and privacy on anyone within and outside the company, even the political leaders, and businesses. Annie is also featured in this book; she introduces Mae to these three genius men who are the owners of The Circle – Ty Gospodinov/Kalden, Eamon Bailey, and Tom Stenton. Mae gets a promotion from a smaller position of a customer attendance to receiving customer calls and answering them accordingly. Her father was sick, and she used to see him at the weekends, but surprisingly this wasn’t a good idea to her supervisor.

She had to bow to this pressure and put her whole mind and strength to The Circle forgetting the consequences she would enter into. In between the novel, Mae falls romantically and intimately in love with two guys, one of them whom surprisingly she only knew by his first name Kalden. He also didn’t disclose his real work in The Circle. The second was a furtive colleague called Francis Garaventa. Kalden alarms her on the risk of coming at the end of The Circle, making known to everyone sketchily and with less respect for the distinct persons. Mercer, his ex-boyfriend, told her about the cynicism on the vision of the technology company, how it hindered secretive space, but she couldn’t listen for she was into it fully. Mae went further and used him; she made live demo test on him for her new Circle technology research. Mercer was furious and unfortunately drove into a bridge and died.
Mae throughout the book performs her duties of programming and disenchantment until the story ended. Annie, her best friend and college mate, the one who introduced her to the company, gets jealous seeing the rising of Mae. Mae’s parents were happy for her when she secured a job at The Circle, but after the weird change including installing see change cameras around the home, her stubbornness and unoriginal dedication to the company’s world opinion made them fear about her entanglement with technology and even separated from her. Mae’s father suffers from sclerosis; he had no medical coverage till Mae puts him on The Circles coverage.
Mae faces difficult moments with her technology advancement, she is found unlawfully kayaking at night, put through public shame before the whole company, and she becomes well known, she also goes on and discards Kalden’s anxiety, and mislays her personality. The company gravities people and government leaders to lose their privacy and transfer to transparency by using the see change cameras. After her friend is lying on the bed in a comma, Mae wishes to know what her thoughts are, and so she has it that during the next meeting of The Circle, she will discuss the issue of discovering an app that would know someone’s mind and thought when they are unconscious.

How Social Media and Technology Affect Teenagers
Dangerous Intimate Conduct
With all this technology around us, teenagers can connect with ease to social networks that are full of sexual misbehavior, and they can’t resist watching. Mae had all the reasons to watch and practice what she watched; she was able to sleep with Kalden, he had changed himself to be Kalden instead of Ty. On the other hand, Francis did a live demonstration test on her with a new app when they were having intimacy. Social media are prune to dangerous intimate relationships.
School Drop Out
If not reduced social media can easily make teens drop out of school. If Mae could have continued her education at the university level, she could have done better than staying in The Circle. She was already addicted to it. Her ex-boyfriend, her parents, and Kalden all warned her, but she could not listen, all she wanted was to be famous.
Lack of Privacy
Francis twice humiliated Mae when the two had intimacy; he uncovered the test app to The Circle without her knowledge. When Mae tried to intervene, she was told that privacy these days is a sin and obsolete, she had to cope with lack of it. Teens must understand that when they are too much on social media, nothing is private, they can be humiliated anytime, and this may affect them in many ways.
Enervation
It can be both tangible, psychological, and emotive enervation. When you engage yourself too much on social media, exhaustion is highly possible. Annie was put in a coma because she suffered stress which was caused by enervation at The Circle during her lifetime there.
