The concept of the homoparental family

The concept of the family has changed over time because we can currently see families composed of same -sex couples. These couples sometimes look for a way to become parents through different media such as subrogated belly, in vitro fertilization or homoparental adoption. The issue of homoparental families in a delicate and controversial one since it generates different types of opinions both against and in favor of these. Mainly the opinions are directed and focused on the well -being of the children. It is from this point that many questions arise as if “the quality they present as fathers or mothers and whether to grow within this type of system would be favorable or not for the psychological, social and emotional development of the minor” (pleasures, et al. 2017).

Within society we have been taught that a family must be composed of mother, parents and children and not of same -sex people since it is not conventional. During the 21st century this perspective has changed and laws and measures have been granted in favor of homoparental families although there are still prejudices towards these. Personally I agree that same -sex couples have the opportunity to become parents. I think that a person’s sexual orientation does not influence how a child can raise. The important thing is the love and values that these parents instill in their children.

There are many myths about the health and well -being of children raised in homoparental families.

Wait! The Concept Of The Homoparental Family paper is just an example!

Some sectors and people think that these children will suffer from discrimination and teasing from their school classmates or that they will present sexual preferences towards their own sex. Unlike these sectors I think that children raised by same -sex couples will be just as happy and healthy as children raised by traditional couples. The American Psychology Association (2018) establishes that there are no substantial differences between the development of children with same -sex parents and that of the children of heterosexual couples.

In conclusion, homoparentality is a reality that we are currently living. I think we must become aware and instill the inclusion in children from an early age so that we do not continue to repeat these prejudice patterns. Homoparental families just like heteroparental are totally trained to educate and raise their children satisfactorily. Love is care and care can be provided by one or more human beings regardless of your sexual preference.
