The Goal
In undertaking business studies, scholars come across books which happen to have much influence in their life. One of such books is the Goal, authored by Eliyahu M. Goldratt and Jeff Cox. The Goal is a book that has much application to many aspects of my life not only in the business career but also in other facets. In this paper, there is an in-depth discussion of the book, the Goal, and the influence that it has in aspects of life. Some of the applications are directly oriented to business while others have much to do life in general. There is a realization that there cannot be a distinct separation of one’s career and their living. There is usually an interconnection.
Much of the book is about science and technology. There has been a deliberate effort by the author to demystify the perceptions that people have always had concerning science. Many people regard science as secrets of nature which are difficult for the average mind to grasp. There is concurrence with this demystification because; science is about the discovery of the aspects that could go a long way in helping the human kind live their lives in a much-improved manner and with a lot of conveniences. It is, therefore, essential that there is keeping an open mind while indulging in scientific studies and analysis so as to reap the maximum benefits as opposed to restrictions which may emanate from the misconceptions that science is about challenging things much hidden from the average person.

This book has had influence in the aspect of concurring that there has been much misuse of the terms science and technology such that there has been the loss of their real meaning. It is essential that there are deliberate efforts to ensure that there is the attainment of the right definition of those terms, especially to the current generation.

The book delves into the issue of manufacturing. The new global principles of production form the basis of the articulations. The principles, in agreement with the book, bring people to understand what works for them, and therefore, reap maximum benefits as opposed to indulging in a kind of manufacturing that utilizes strict rules; yet, there could be little benefits as the models may not work well at the time. The new global principles of production ought to be consistent with the prior studies on the environment and what is capable of working well with people at the moment. Without such depths, there are all possibilities of coming up with manufactory aspects that will not be of benefit.
The application of the aspect of the book concerning manufacturing is not limited to the production issues in life. Rather, there is a profound use of the same in life, particularly concerning business. Following the principles of manufactory as outlined in the book, there is a need to have a similar outlook on other aspects of business, and also in life. It does not matter how attractive the product of manufactory or any other business effort is, if there is no connection of the product with the needs of people at the moment, there would not be much gain from the venture.

This issue applies much not only in business but also in general life. There is no way of avoiding challenges in business and life. The best, therefore, that one can do is to look for the manner in which one can deal with the problems. The best way forward is to come up with creative ways of addressing the challenges that one faces, be it in business or other matters of life.
This book also has influence in the perspective of business practices and processes. There is a correct addressing of the issues to point out that; there has been straying of business practices and process into far from what they ought to be. Such a statement augers well when one observes much of what has been happening in the business world. The stray from the expectations is not only in the world of business. There has also been much change of the processes in the daily lives of people such that; a keen perspective would yield a sigh of wonder. There has been a lack of usage of common sense in coming up with practices and processes principles. People have turned out to follow blindly the old stipulated methods which may not auger well with the current world. It is essential that there is the utilization of common sense in coming up with principles for practices and processes.
