The Mother Hips Live Performance
Based in the San Francisco Area, The Mother Hips is a rock band that is made up of Tim Bluhm, Greg Loiacono, John Hofer and Scott Thunes (Hips 12). The band was formed in 1990 by its original members among them Paul Hoaglin. Their concert at Harlow’s Sacramento was one of their best ever performance. Being part of the audience, the experience I had was one of the best I have ever had in a musical concert. The music performed was soft rock (Cateforis 11). I have been a fan of soft rock music, more specifically, The Mother Hips rock band for a long time. In their concert, I took note of very many aspects of the concert. These aspects include the performance itself, the performers and the instruments, the musical aspect, the reaction of the audience, the ambiance and the décor of the venue, the analysis of the first four songs performed as well as my general experience at the concert. As such, this paper shall focus on these aspects to come up with a report of the whole concert.
First, this being a well known and loved rock band both locally and internationally, the performers were well recognized by the audience (Robins 21). All they needed to do was to boost up their poise by picking up the musical instruments, in this case their guitars, and start the performance. They started by testing with the several musical notes as the crowd cheered them up. Tim Bluhm, the lead singer in the band, started by setting the mood. He stepped forward to introduce the first song of the concert.

Wait! The Mother Hips Live Performance paper is just an example!

The ambiance of the concert was calm and people sat down at their tables with their drinks contrary to other concerts where people stand to dance to the tunes. The décor of the venue was amazing with dark colors.
The concert opened with the first piece which was loud and intense with a homophonic texture; one could hear the sounding of the electric guitar at the same time hearing the bass and snare drums playing at the background. As the performance proceeded, the texture turned to polyphonic with two melodies sounding concurrently. The bass guitar played with a low and slow melody. The mood become more theatrical as it progressed. The velocity of the music became faster and the texture became more intense with fugue-like openings. The most dominant instrument was the guitar as Tim Bluhm played his guitar with more passion and was effectively supported by the nonstop beating of the bass and snare drums. The drums were soon replaced by the intensified guitars played by Tim Bluhm and Greg rapidly leading to the climax in the concluding section of the song.
The second song of the evening was a flat-four beat, which started slow and was more passionate than the first song. This song begun with the rhythm guitar and was quickly followed by the bass drums which instantaneously intensified the song; as the rhythm was intensified from vivace to presto. As the song proceeded, one could hear a falsetto at the background produced by Greg. I could not imagine Greg could hit that high vocal range which was above the tenor voice. As the song approached the climax, the embellishment and melodies were played between the solo melody sections, which were played by Tim Bluhm, symbolizing the fills.
In the third song, the melody was more conjunct. The guitarist started smoothly and it was easy to sing along the song as one could hear every word Tim Bluhm sang. The harmony of the song was more consonance with a very smooth-sounding harmonic blend. The performance of this song was more passionate; one could tell this was a love song. The performance being smooth and touching, the crowd sang along the lines with love and passion which made the whole concert so memorable.
In the fourth song, the approach used by the performers was very different. The song started with a high tempo with the upper register of the electric guitar producing a piercing and brilliant sound. As the song proceeded, the tempo started to reduce as the lower register was being used to achieve the dark and rich timbre. The whole of this song was dominated by the sound of the electric guitar with the bass drums heard in the background but not so high. People found themselves dancing to the song.
Finally, my experience at the concert was a memorable one. I found myself in a very active audience familiar with every song The Mother Hips performed on stage. The ambiance of the concert symbolized a typical rock atmosphere with every person talking about rock. The venue was set in a way that every person could see the band while on the stage. Most of the songs were smooth and soothing and I loved every bit of the performance. I would not mind attending another rock concert, particularly a concert by the Mother Hips. Every aspect of the concert was memorable.
