Introduction

The film focuses on a young woman named Griet, who lives in the Dutch city of Delft. The story begins in 1665 when Griet’s mother tells him that he has to start working as a maid in the house of the Dutch painter Vermeer and his wife, Catharina, due to the economic situation of his own family that, since his fatherIt was blind, it’s very bad. Griet, not very convinced understands that he should help his family, so he moves to his new home.

When he arrives at the painter’s house, he is received by Tanneke, another maid who works in that house. Tanneke teaches the place and tells him all the work he has to do, among them, his most important task that Giet has to do is to clean the study where Vermeer works;It is extremely important for him that nothing moves or alters in this room, and Giet must work very carefully. Tanneke also introduces the son of the butcher, with whom he begins to have a relationship.
