There are Several Study Techniques to help a Student Learn More Efficiently
Several students are normally left behind by the modern education systems. Therefore is need for one to develop the necessary study skills that will help him learn more efficiently. According to Dunlosky “improving educational outcomes will require efforts on many fronts, but a central premise of this monograph is that one part of a solution that involves helping students to regulate better their learning by the using effective learning techniques” (4). There are several study techniques that can be used to help students achieve their learning goals and improve their performance. In this excerpt, I will examine examples of techniques that can be used in helping students learn more efficiently.

It is imperative for the learner to engage in elaborative interrogation. This requires the learner to seek explanations for different actions, states and events while studying. The power of explanations can be harnessed in all situations to promote the process of learning (Dunlosky et al 6). It is also essential for the learner to answer the question why? This can be done by conducting research on the topic of study.
The second study technique that is important is spacing out study sessions. Research has shown that the brain functions well if learner’s study sessions are spaced out well for each study class. Learning experts recommend that a learner should spend at least two to three hours studying for every hour that is spent at the lectures (Himsel 4).

Wait! There are Several Study Techniques that will help a student learn more efficiently paper is just an example!

This makes the hours that a learner is supposed to study to be many, but they can be made much less overwhelming if they are spread out across several days.
The third study skill is concentration. It is important for the learner to get a comfortable sitting position with a sufficient lighting for conducting his studies. Study experts recommend that it is important for the learner to use the learning position regularly while conducting his studies. It is also important to place distracting materials out of the line of vision (Duke, Nell and Pearson 110). It is also necessary for the scholar to set goals for each study session and challenge himself on improving them.
The fourth skill is the testing yourself regularly, early and often. It is imperative for the learner to know how much he has learnt. Testing is the best way of preventing overestimation of how much you know since it provides a reality of the learners’ actual knowledge. On addition, self-testing does not only show the current competence of the learner but it also a set of exercise to train the brain. In every test that the learner does helps the brain in training on how to retrieve a memory.

The fifth skill is exercising the brain by reading before class. This is the same a warm up that is normally used in the process of preparing the body for a workout. In the process of exercising the neural networks are primed which results into the high performance. Students who normally prepare exercise by reading before the class normally have easier time in identifying useful information
There several learning skills that a learner can use to improve his academic performance. Some of these include engaging in elaborative interrogation. It is also important to space out study sessions and concentrate while studying. If used properly, these techniques can improve the academic performance of a learner.
