People find it a challenge always to stick to the facts and be loyal in every aspect of life. Our clients, bosses and the society as a whole require us to stick to the truth, but many have found it difficult to embrace it. There are times when we have fallen prey of our genuineness which occurs as a test to our moral stability. The truth is a term that is subject to change depending on one’s understanding, perception, and point of reference. People rely on their daily activities to describe truth. This paper seeks to define the truth, explain how we can know it and whether it matters.
Many philosophical theories have been used to define truth. Ironically, the definitions suggested prey to the same question, “is the definition true?” Truth can simply be termed as the close conformity to reality or fact that is in exact accordance with that which is, shall be or ought to be certain. It could be used to mean that which is undeniable, undoubtedly and irrefutably correct. Philosophically, the truth may apply to different aspects of real life. In spirituality, the term may be used to indicate a transcendental reality. This is usually unproven and based primarily on belief. It indicates that whatever we are acquainted with as regards truth we must draw inferences from convergence that could still be deceptive. A further definition of the truth is that which has been unconcealed. This is about something that was previously hidden but brought to the open. The metaphysical truth rests on one’s intellect, tradition, and faith.

Philosophers admit that the satisfactory theory of the meaning of a word must account for its significance in a sentence and reality. The truth takes both aspects in that the usage of the word itself must be undoubtedly proven and its meaning concrete. Unless the account is applied for the particular purpose, then there would be no need explaining the fact that we can banish the word. Truth can be known if there is a possible inference to the subject referred and no vague claims that outdo the reality. In a sentence can be identified if one assigns a meaning to each word. The syntactical features play a significant role in establishing which part is wrong and which is right. However, the evaluation requires a deeper knowledge of every word and references. In certain genres such as science and mathematics, the truth about something can only be known when proven. On the other hand, analytical solutions will only be considered true if the final figure corresponds to the standard value established through timely modeling and analysis. Nevertheless, truth used as logic is closely relevant to the inquiry. For logicians, determining whether a ration is true or not involves validating the logical argument regarding the proposition representing the logical connections. These are guided by a set of rules that are assumed to be self-fulfilling. It is, however, factual that logic does not allow justifiable inferences to be attained. There must be a situation where senses lead the mind in every situation. This should be considered as the lead to the truth even though it does not count all the way.
Although it is entirely challenging to discover the truth in every aspect, it matters a lot. In most cases, people’s stance on truth is influenced by a range of factors. However, knowing what is certain will help eliminate illegitimate assumptions. It helps people to settle on a particular solution hence creating conformity in what they engage in. Once the truth is known, situational factors cannot influence people’s stands. In a situation where a person is convicted of a felony such as rape, it is only the disclosure of the truth that can help the judge to make the correct decision. In so doing, justice can be offered to the accuser. This will also assist in determining the next course of action such as medication required. In science, truth helps set references and avoids confusion that may lead to poor or hazardous results. However, there are situations where truth does not matter. In situations where a white lie is required, truth is the last thing one can use. Telling a hypertensive mother whose child has just gotten out of the intensive care unit that they are okay is what is the best for their health. Nevertheless, this should be done cautiously to avoid escalating the problem later.
Whether in social sciences, ethics, political sciences or general life, truth is a vital facet. It helps create standards that can be followed for a healthier environment. It is entirely challenging to discover the truth in every aspect, but people must try to stick to it at all times. In most cases, people’s resolutions are influenced by the surrounding conditions. Knowing when to base standpoints on reality and when not is highly imperative. It is thus worthy to withstand other people’s opinions and help each other to find the truth.
