As a result, the group is required to nurture a culture of inclusion and social acceptance to be considered diverse.
Application of the theory with examples
The concept of diversity is important for social acceptance and could be applied in some areas. For example, the understanding of lay ideas of diversity is important for the fruitful integration of the historically White associations. Besides, the application should embrace diversity and eliminate the perception that Whites feel they are non-prejudiced and egalitarian while members in the minority group think that their concerns are ignored or trivialized (Chen & Hamilton, 2015). Instead, the application of the importance of diversity should make the minority group feel accepted and comfortable even as they perceive the Whites as being racially biased. The application best fits in social institutions such as institutions of learning among many other social areas.

The article was mainly based on the academic setting that often contains subtle cues that makes the lessened minorities to have questions concerning their belonging within such domains.
