University Social Responsibility in Peru

In Peru, like the rest of the countries that are in “Latin America” they have various problems to face, that is why universities are centers that teach various functions that help the training of students, among which the most outstandingThey focus on the field of research, teaching and social responsibility.

To talk about university social responsibility we must know that before obtaining this designation, they tried to implement similar efforts as a social projection or also the university extension, which had as its objectives to support the community that was not in good condition. One of those who had the greatest reach was that of the "student volunteer" that incorporated students to be able to participate and collaborate in solving social problems. To which, seeing that measures to be able to establish it were created in 2014, Minedu implemented the MSW from the promulgation of University Law No. 30220, which dates social responsibility as the basis of university life.

According to (Minedu, 2014), “Social responsibility is the ethical and effective management of the impact generated by the University in society. Contributes to sustainable development and well -being throughout the student community as in society ”. And it is that social responsibility has been implemented so that students can have a different vision regarding environmental and social problems, which should not only focus on improving negative impacts, but also on positivesociety.

Wait! University Social Responsibility In Peru paper is just an example!

These impacts are presented as: organizational, educational, cognitive and social impact. That is why, during the university era, these RSU activities act positively in us, students, since they contribute to human development.

We must also know that all higher education, by contributing to students, must face challenges in society, where the environment or the ecosystem in which we find ourselves is vital for our sustainability. That is why (Vallaeys, De la Cruz and Sasia, 2009) synthesized the policies for the integral development of the RSU, which are:

  • The Ethics Management and Institutional Life Management Policy: which focuses on improving ethical and professional behavior, of the university community, socially responsible values.
  • Responsible Environmental Management Policy: which leads to the university community for an improvement in everyday ecological behavior, directing it for the intelligent and responsible use of the environment
  • Socially responsible academic training policy: which its purpose is to make the university community and its external collaborators follow a continuous improvement related to the social aspects necessary for sustainable human development.
  • Socially responsible policy: This has to achieve the profile of a graduate with attitudes of solidarity and social and environmental responsibility, during the complete and integral training of the student.
  • Socially useful research policy and social knowledge management: This is aimed at ensuring the generation and transmission of adequate interdisciplinary knowledge with sustainable human development, both in its theme and in its construction and dissemination process.

These points are very important since it is implemented in the RSU so that it can be of reach for everyone within the community, these must be met to advance within the field of social responsibility and to encourage students tothat can develop such as resolving conflicts. Although it was imposed since 2014, both public and private universities, they do not give due importance to this situation, there are very few that take this point very seriously, such as universities in Lima. The majority of universities are taught the social responsibility course, while in others such as the PUPC, very apart from including this in their curricular mesh of all careers, they do practices out of their campus, in order to understand and replicate what istaught in the classroom, so that the information is further enriched.

On the side of the specific public universities, some have taken it as a specialized course, being their approach to solve the problems in the inequality that is lived in society. As we can appreciate, it is different approaches that universities take for the MSW either through their norms, political or the way of teaching it. And that is why this issue is still to be developed, we must work together, not only with the universities that are interested in this issue or that have put it as something important in their institution, if not all universities in Peru, since they areApproximately 6 universities which have proposed projects within the RSU, but that cannot be fulfilled due to the little support that exists, since an investment is needed to be able to solve it, and having so few concentrated in this issue, it can get to get lostand disintegrate with the passage of time. Not only does it depend on the people who govern this institution, but the entire community that forms it, to generate commitment and be able to act with a critical thinking against the RSU, that is a possibility for decision making or for the formation of thestudents, not an obligation as it is currently seen.

It is the time where results have to be generated, to be considered that it is our community and that we must bet on good ideas, so it makes the country progress, which solves social problems as environmental through this system. And thus encourage the following generations, to become aware of how much the RSU is for, as our formation as for the future of the country, since it depends on us to change all the problems that are currently presented.
