Unfortunately, stress is an inevitable occurrence in the lives of human beings. The stressors in my life right now revolve around school, work and my inability to balance them with life. For individuals living in the U.S., for instance, the American Dream becomes a façade when they attempt to create a balance in their daily lifestyles. Since I have a constant response to my stressors, I realized that each one of them warrants a different one. Stress from work makes me want to continually sleep and temporarily forget about the problems. It is much easier to delve into an ‘unconscious’ world when I am experiencing burnout from work (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2011). With school assignments, however, it is much easier for me to seek comfort in food and my favorite shows. When I watch The Big Bang Theory, life becomes less serious and I forget about school pressure(s) for a reasonable amount of time. I also try as much as I can to hang out with my friends to rejuvenate my social energies and forget about any stress. Again, with work; I have noticed that sometimes the thought of being broke, and not achieving my goals makes me snappish with others. I am ashamed to admit that I almost slapped my cousin because he kept asking for money during my rainy days. Delving further, I learned that each of my stressors portrays themselves in different ways. I get frustrated with work, and resort to sleep as a way of ‘running’ away from the world.

Wait! Workday Sanity paper is just an example!

Even if it is also unbearable, stress from school makes me want to indulge in little pleasures such as watching funny films or consuming comfort meals.
There are other stress prevention techniques that I have embraced. Recently, I started having morning jogs before work and I realized that they help in relieving any pent-up stress. These jogs work toward the release of endorphins which are happy hormones (Weisenberger, 2014). Exercises work best in relieving ant form(s) of stress that is bestowed upon an individual. Betterment of my mood in this case therefore, reduces any stress, regardless of its origin. Again, I have resorted to meditation at least twice in a day; before it starts and before I go to bed at night. Meditation is well-affiliated with the brain and its relaxation areas thus; it works to my advantage (Paoluccio, 2015; Simpkins & Simpkins, 2013). When my brain is relaxed, I do not have to constantly worry about the endless array of thoughts. I also learned that having a shoulder to lean on; whether in the capacity of friendship or family makes it easier to deal with stress. It is proven that sharing one’s lamentations with another party has a role to play in stress relief. My friends reassured me and made it easier for me to understand that each deals with stressful issues. Also, it is more cathartic to share one’s stressors with other people to achieve more relief. The times when I decided to languish in my stress and depression; I realized that I was more isolated from the social scene. It was tough for me as I had to continually keep to myself but, as soon as I started sharing my stresses with other people, it was much easier to deal with the issues.
