Essay: As A School Principal
Being the Principal of this school, one of my greatest responsibilities would be to ensure equal and effective education for all children, irrespective of caste, creed, ethnicity, religion or individuals with special needs. My vision for this school is to be one of the most admired schools in our county with respect to the provision of equal and effective education to each child. To achieve the projected vision, I would ensure non-discrimination of any children, understand the needs of each and every individual and focus on each one of them, through individualistic approaches, in association with my peers. My mission would be guided by the principles as per the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Rehabilitation Act of 1973, United States of America.
The Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is the educational right of each and every child who are challenged with disabilities. Hence, I should take utmost care in providing regular or special education through related aids and services, which will be designed to meet the individual needs of physically compromised individuals. I would also ensure that such services and aids will also be equally extended to those individuals also, who are not compromised physically. Further, I would ensure the procedural safeguards outlined in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Wait! You are now the School Principal r’s choice paper is just an example!

Hence, our school education programs will be designed to meet the individualistic needs of a specific child such that the child can be successfully oriented in the general curriculum and would be able to meet the grade-level standards established by the State.
I would be guided in my actions through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in providing least restrictive environments to children with special needs. This means a student, who is challenged by disability, must be provided the opportunity to be educated like his or her peers who are not challenged by disability. Hence, they should have access to the general education curriculum or any other programs which is pursued by his or her peers. I would make provisions for teaching aids and resource rooms within the school for providing specialized care to such individuals. I would follow up on the progress of each and every child who is challenged by disability, and if required, I would ensure a more restrictive and focused environment for him or her.
To ensure the efficacy and standards of education at my school, I will implement benchmarking methods for both faculty and the students. Such benchmarking will include sharing of best practices and achievements in spite of challenges due to disability. While implementing such benchmarking practices, I would also ensure that such students should not be provided a feeling of empathy or sympathy, which may create discrimination from their peers who are not physically challenged. Being in a leadership role, I will ensure that the faculty in our school should be competent to understand the needs of such children from verbal and nonverbal communications. The teachers in my school will provide adequate motivation and flexibility to accommodate each and every child irrespective of their ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
With the above guiding principles and philosophies, I am confident to raise the standards of education for children with special needs. By creating an ambiance of equality and non-discrimination, and maintaining those over a period of time will satisfy my accountability as the Principal of this school.
