For the past few years, I have upheld a conceptual steadiness in both my profession and academics in the pursuit of high-quality healthcare provision. As such, I have had a growing interest in becoming an administrative fellow. This burgeoning fascination is driven mainly by the opportunities brought forth by Administrative Fellowships. I believe such programs present immeasurable opportunities for high potential individuals, such as myself, to develop and fine-tune leadership and analytical skills. Moreover, the chance to serve under a senior administrator provides fellows with the best prospects to widen their perceptions and capabilities in administration. Knowledge gained through fellowship augment the capacities of participants in their existing positions and also lays a foundation for excellence in the future.
Although there are countless reasons as to why I chose to follow a career path in healthcare, they are all linked to common underlying factors, which are intrinsic and extrinsic benefits and rewards. Herein, I have condensed these reasons into three major points and will describe each in brief. Firstly, there is immense job growth in this sector. According to a report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2017), nearly half of the top 20 fastest growing occupations are in healthcare. These numbers translate to increased demand for health professionals and ultimately job security.

Secondly, I consider service provision as a human right obligation, and in this capacity, I will be able to impact lives in the community. Healthcare works are uniquely equipped to deal with life, from ushering a newborn to performing emergency procedures that help save a life. Lastly, with the exception of losing a life, there is never a dull moment in healthcare. More often than not, new and unique cases are introduced in the healthcare space, forcing professionals to come up with new ways of handling these situations. This last point is particularly important as such issues lead to the development and advancement of the previous process. It would be an honor to be part of such progress.
My biggest career goal is to become a competent administrator in the healthcare sector. I believe in this position I will employ my acquired skills to ensure sound and all-inclusive leadership. It is for this reason that I believe the administrative fellowship program, offered by Ochsner Health System (OHS) is uniquely suited to enable me to achieve my objectives. The program, as offered by OHS, employs a unique teaching approach, centering on five exclusive programs (operations, finance, nursing, supply chain and revenue cycle). I am intent on joining OHS because of its long history on the provision of quality healthcare and vast coverage in Louisiana. Moreover, OHS provides unique developmental and career opportunities. For instance, the Ochsner Leadership Institute (OLI) is a career development organization by OHS. OLI makes available most of its leadership courses to fellowsCITATION Och y l 2057 (Ochsner Health System). Once enrolled in the program, I look forward to achieving the following in my pursuit to attain my goal. To begin with, I anticipate progressing my cognition abilities from the invaluable knowledge gained from interacting with experts. Secondly, I look forward to gaining applied foundation to improve my status as an inexperienced manager. Penultimately, the fellowship will help me comprehend the core values that are mutual to all healthcare specialists. Lastly, the experience gained will be instrumental in preparing me and others for leadership roles.
