During the Yalta Conference, Roosevelt and Churchill disagreed with Stalin`s idea of uniting the entire Eastern Europe nations in his quest to defeat Hitler (Trowbridge, 10). Therefore, they view this as a strategy that would influence the communist ideology to the world.
Consequently, the cold war was founded by two rivalry system of political and economic set up between the Soviet Union and other capitalist western nations like the United States. The duration of the stated war was between 1945 and 1991 (Trowbridge, 9). The competing systems at the time were democratic capitalism and the communist system. The allied countries that also incorporated the United States were spearheading the democratic capitalism while the communist system was pushed forward by the Soviet Union. From the beginning, the Cold War was dramatized by vigorous economic and political competition that also included military and diplomatic posturing among the competing nations.
Additionally, the war influenced excessive spending on military proxy war set up in various countries such as Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The concept of political and economic dominance was the reason behind the establishment of the cold war. The involved nations were competing to lead every global agenda that were present at the time. They influenced their agenda through campaigning for their respective communism or capitalism ideologies in the quest to prove that the world was more successful under one of the stated ideology (Trowbridge, 9).

Contrarily, the Soviet Union encouraged the adoption of communism ideologies to other nations while the United States counter the same idea through campaigning for free enterprise and democracy to other states. Even though the major competitors of the cold war did not involve themselves in direct military confrontation but they influenced several small-scale military conflicts in many countries.

The Lavender Scare that is also known as the fear of homosexual individuals was popular in the midst of the cold war period. During that period, many female homosexuals were persecuted. In addition to that, they lose their military status, job, social status and they were discriminated upon by society. The America system did its best to remove the cancer of lesbianism that had grown in various government offices, the entertainment industry, and military.
Besides, the issue of gay rights was made political in 1992 when Bill Clinton pledge to abolish all sexual orientation based discriminations in the military once he was elected (Trowbridge, 14). This pledge gave him enough support that he ended up being elected. However, when he was elected to office, he did not enforce or implement this plan. Gay activities were annoyed and disappointed with him.
Simultaneously, People feared homosexuality lifestyle because it did not exist before and sodomy was regarded as illegal (Trowbridge, 14). According to religious concepts, their actions are considered evil and terrible. For many centuries people considered women as passionless creatures. Therefore, the act of dwelling in a lesbian relationship was not fostered on the basis of a loving relationship but rather in a romantic friendship.
More ever, men were concerned that lesbian based marriage was a tool used by women to forward their feminism activism agenda. Therefore, such relationships were based on proving a point and not fostered on love. The concept of lesbianism becomes a subject of study by many sexologists who were influenced with the nation that women were created with a male soul. Furthermore, women were financially unstable, and they could not have the capacity to support their family. Therefore, many factors made a lifestyle of homosexuality to be questionable in the eyes of the society.

The term Greensboro sit-ins was synonymous with a series of civil right protests that were done in North Caroline in an area called Greensboro in a peaceful manner. The primary reason that led to the development of Greensboro sit-ins was aimed at pushing forward the struggle to end racial segregation in various department stores in the Southern United States. Before the Greensboro sit-ins, there were various sit-ins conducted national wide by different civil right groups (Trowbridge, 12). However, the Greensboro ones were the most popular and essential sit-ins because it influenced the end of racial segregation in South Caroline departmental stores.
The form of confrontation experienced was based on occupying sit in various departmental stores. The activists would then request for service in these desegregated stores and once denied service they would stay there the whole day and they repeated the cycle the following day. Consequently, Baker was impressed by the breed of new young activists who were brave to draft the Greensboro sit-ins (Trowbridge, 12). She assisted the young activists to establish a nonviolent civil right group named the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee that helped black people to be registered has legitimate voters.
