ASERTIVITY AS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Introduction.

Assertive communication is very important for our organizations, since when we communicate assertively, optimal results are achieved at the moment we want to express something or face a conflict. Assertive communication suggests an equality in relationships, where we act according to the interests we have, that we express our feelings with peace of mind, honestly and of course expose our opinions without feeling condemned, since we can use our rights without affecting others.

Being assertive implies having respect for oneself and of course for our fellow men, hence the importance of knowing how to communicate, without having to press and trust what we think in order to take into account our opinion. That is, if I have clarity of my thoughts, I cannot force my classmates to think like me, since each one has their own way of observing and feeling the situations that occur in the middle;And in turn, they must respect my way of thinking.

According to the above, it should be added that the communication that I make or makes a partner has a responsibility and of course a consequence as a result of the expression of their feelings. Assertive communication at some point will not have the absence of conflict between the two parties;But you can find a balance between favorable results and the decrease in unfavorable.

I think that the main responsibility at the time of creating an ERS document (Software Requirements specification) falls on the analyst, since it must establish the assertive and appropriate communication channels with its client and the user in order to understand what the needs arethat these have and that they need to be satisfied;Likewise, it must analyze body language and nonverbal communication, to have clarity and coherence in what the client who has made the contract requires. 

We as analysts must immerse ourselves in the culture and in the client’s organizational environment, in order to understand that they need the final software product. We have to remember that neither the client, much less the end user has to know of software design, so the analyst must know how to interpret and create the appropriate communication channels in order not to create conflicts;That is why we must apply that to communicate assertively we must bear in mind that the interlocutor must be heard, and for this it is necessary to be attentive, willing and avoid making assumptions while the other expresses its point of view.

However, the analyst requires a work team to carry out his project and for this assertive communication would be a very important tactic for the organization. Of its good utility there would be a good work climate, motivation, performance and performance. I believe that good assertive communication, part of respect when transmitting a message consciously, responsible and mature.

When we work as a team, assertive communication enters importance, since the organization has a common panorama, where an adequate work environment coexists, there is motivation and its performance increases;There is trust that helps identify with the organization and be more effective. On the assertive communication of organizations, ten commandments for assertive business communication, which are:

1. You must think well what you are going to say before speaking.

two. You will always use the language of your receivers.

3. You must learn to listen to be heard.

4. You will sanctify the channel, the right place and moment.

5. You will not use intermediaries.

6. You will attend carefully to all messages.

7. You will be empathetic, sensitive and comprehensive with your workers and colleagues.

8. You won’t let rumors arise.

9. You will always look for the feedback of the messages.

10. You will identify the feelings of your receivers.

So, as indicated, an effective communication means that we manage to conve.

That is why the analyst must study and implement the importance of assertive communication both verbal and nonverbal.
