As a member of any team, one key aspect is to ensure that there is cooperation among team members. Besides participation, the team must ensure that each member is dedicated to the achievement of the overall goals set by the team. One key aspect of providing success is team values. When recruiting team members, managers should make sure that they align each member’s worth with the overall’s organizational culture and practices (Kissane, 2017). This, however, was not the case when I was recruited to be part of a sales team for a start-up company. Being a start-up, the manager did not make any considerations in regards to the members’ values while forming the group.
In any team, the values held by each member is key to the success of the team. The amount of the team is critical in forming a particular culture within the team which will be vital in directing the team in the right direction (Barret 2010, 2). As for the group I was in, it was clear that there wasn’t any culture in the group. This was evident by the group’s performance in handling various tasks. There was no cohesion in the group as in performing any task; there was a lack of coordination. The lack of values was also evident as far as teamwork was concerned. Each member of the team performed the duties according to their style, which in some cases resulted in conflict within the organization.
In summary, team members usually contribute to the success of any team.

To ensure that there are coordination and effectiveness within the team, managers should consider the values held by each team member. My experience for luck of team values led to the failure of a sales team for a start-up company. Moving forward, managers should make sure that they put into consideration team members’ benefits.
