Any credible teacher must always think of the manner in which they he or she will handle discipline issues in class. For an effective handling of discipline issues, a teacher needs to know their students. Thankfully, the class profile document offers a valuable insight into the socioeconomic, ethnicities, and the general background of all the students in the class. When a teacher is armed with this information, then it would naturally lead to a determination of the need, interest and habit of the students, so that one can design the class that effectively matches the needs of the student, as opposed to that of the teacher. At this point, Wong’s effective classroom becomes a handy model. Incorporating his strategies in class management could be key to prevention of problems before they occur, instead of just focusing on events after the problem has occurred. The Real Discipline model can suffice in this situation and can be used in the enforcing of discipline in the 30 student class. While the three-phase of real discipline glitters in theory, it might take a crafty teacher to implement it in the process proposed by the Morrish. I will begin by training for compliance then teach the students how to behave and manage their choices.
