Coding
A code is a set of instructions that make it possible to come up with computer software, operating system, websites and apps (What Is Coding?). In our digital world, it’s these codes that power computers that in turn influences our day-to-day things like robots and phones among many more. Different names like coders, programmers, software engineers or developers are given to individuals who write code. There are many different coding languages: C, C+, C#, Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, and Perl (Hughes 3). These languages can either be low-level or high-level, and low-level is the easiest to use. Different coding languages are best suitable for various functions; C language is appropriate for graphics while JavaScript is best for website, and Perl is multi-functional. Despite these appropriateness, many languages share similar basic features and structures. Since the computer age or information age, coding has had a greater impact on society. Past and present technologies have all been powered by codes creating an effect on the whole world in general and also to individuals. This paper will examine the benefits of coding in the real world and partly its history.
Coding and computers in general have come a long way and evolved over time. People have always imagined new ideas and used their coding skills to make them a reality. History of coding dates back from 1843 where Ada, a mathematician lady, became the first programmer writing an algorithm used in a mechanical computer (Hughes 3).

Wait! Coding paper is just an example!

With time, there was the evolution to a calculator using binary. In 1945, the first electronic computer was developed and utilized by the military. Afterwards, the first high-level programming language, FORTRAN and COBOL, was the leading language to use words instead of numbers. There was also the development of computer games that had been coded. The discovery of the internet which followed later on led to communication between two or more computers. This was a game changer in the field of technology and coding in specific. The invention of various operating systems enabled everyone to own PCs. From then henceforth, there have been many coding languages that have come up including C++, python, Java, C# and many more.
Through coding many businesses have been started, from multi-billion dollars firms to small startup enterprises. Pioneer companies like Microsoft, which made Bill Gates the wealthiest man in the planet, to the present companies like Google and Facebook have all made a greater impact and it is all because of coding. These establishments and others have hired different people all over the world and hence improving their living standards. They are also a source of income to governments through taxes that have enabled the government to provide social amenities and development projects to its people. Through their CSR programs for example, they have made an impact on global issues like climate change and environment. Websites like Facebook and Twitter have enabled people to be more connected and share ideas irrespective of their geographical locations. Other potential businesses that one can start coding include selling software and mobile apps, e-commerce and just a career as a programmer and sell your services (What Is Coding?).
Coding has had a greater impact in improvement and development in fields like health, finance, governance, military and security, commerce, education, agriculture and other sectors. Coding to date continues to evolve as many creative and imaginative coders continue to invent and improve the technology. People keep appreciating coding since it has it has made it possible to have emails, video games, smartphones, social media and much more.
