Family therapy theories and concepts are such a rich source of information for any growing psychologist. It not only nourishes an individual in ideas but also provides a deeper insight of certain complex matters facing the present families. It provides a platform suitable for establishing a stable, emotionally right and cohesive family if its concepts are well interpreted. Professionally, it adds value to the existing knowledge of a learner making it possible for one to handle even more complex cases in families. Individually, it sparkles a motivational spirit and instills confidence in a person when handling different family related cases.
From the course, I can now be able to differentiate family system theories and their respective treatment plans. Achievement of this objective is based on a critical analysis of the different family therapy models and their applicability in various cases. For each model, there seem to be certain cases that can best be solved using them. This enrichment of information from the course has added value in my psychological knowledge of handling families that have conflicts within them. For instance, I realized that family background of parents and their cultural practices contributed a lot to the emotional misunderstandings that exist. From a general point of view, the course content has plenty and detailed information on all the discussed models.

Discrimination of legal and ethical issues in family therapy has become easier for me. The contributions of gender, race, and age on the conflicts that occur in families can be understood by any psychologist who takes the time to synthesize this course’s contents. Notably, the examples of therapy sessions and family histories used in the course content made it simpler and comprehensible. For instance, the issue of race is highlighted using examples of black American households. They are believed to have domestic violence in most cases (Nichols & Davis, 2017). Such examples give an account on how families from different races can be handled during therapy sessions.
Analysis and evaluation of information relating to family therapy have been simplified in this course. The contribution of the examples and integration of researches relating to different models makes it possible to identify flaws in a family with ease. As for me, these examples particularly have enabled me to blend the ideas of various models and thus being able to foresee a suitable treatment plan for a troubled family. This is an addition of vigor in my profession as a psychologist. Furthermore, it provides an appropriate reference to a lot of information that can be used to enhance global psychology practices.
On issues of gender, diversity and socio-cultural aspects of family therapy, the course provides an extensive knowledge base. The models adequately cover most of the challenges families runs into in their day to day chores. Furthermore, the inclusion of children related issues adds value to the information it provides. Regarding the genders of the family parents, the course covers both ends and further associates their emotional understanding with their socio-cultural practices. According to (Nichols & Davis, 2017), the essential elements of a suitable model are its assessment criteria and treatment plan. This combination has helped me to be able to distinguish the roles gender plays in a family apparently.
Owing to the diversity of issues families face this course has valuable information that can be used to promote professional work of therapists dealing with family related issues. The inclusion of researches from known authors of psychology and the models they develop to deal with family problems provides an extensive source of information for the global development of psychology practice. It thus allows a psychologist to develop skills that can enable them to deal with complicated family situations efficiently.
