The psychological subject in the media that I choose to explain is that of death. The media can change people’s perception in light of the prevalence, effects, and the results. It influences our death perceptions, and we overestimate what leads to death (Williamson et al., 2011). The media depicts both positive and the adverse incidences sides of an end to the people. This essay shares the example of death as a psychological idea and how it demonstrates psychology.
The example is the death of Robin Williams that saw millions of tweets that depicted people’s excitement with the end of the celebrity. Greeks and Roman made a grand funeral to celebrate the poets and the military heroes. In the nineteenth century, the funeral of the late Victor Hugo saw millions of persons in the Paris streets also. Celebrities are known for their publicity, and when they die, they raise public mourning. Excellent media attention gets witnessed as opposed to when they lived. The death of a celebrity has greater media attention raising their status and their value. Their deaths are publicized to make money with examples of Michael Jackson raising 160 million dollars and that of Madonna 125 million dollars. Celebrities shape the attitudes and identities of the public that gets seen in pathological worship (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2014).
The psychological part of death in the media is between mourning and grief.

Grief is how people feel within while mourning the display of the feeling to the public. People react to the death of celebrities to show mourning and not necessarily real grief. It shows that the whole society is suffering from no formal cultural etiquette and no deep media concerns. Conversely, they may have genuine sorrow with the death loss and social media acts as a loneliness buffer to society (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2014).
