The play, the ‘death of salesmen’ highlights intrinsic themes whose application pursues the society today. The main character, Willy Loman, and his sons are the main protagonist in bringing forth the theme of the play. It asserts the inadequacy of self-confidence in a man which spurs a route for loss of fate in personal dreams in the contemporary society (Murphy, 1995). Willy had a dream of being a successful business man in conformity with his believe that being in America guaranteed him of an opportunity to realize wealth and satisfaction. Biff is an active member of the family and talented athlete where he is embraced by every student and the coach for showing expertise in the field. However, he is not well up in terms of academics where he did not reach his father’s perceived mark in high school. In the second perception, Happy is more hard working though not highly recognized by Willy.
Biff says to his father “you are just a normal guy and you will never succeed.” The statement is practical in the sense that Willy himself had no confidence in his goals where at some point he believed that the remaining part of his aspiration would be met by his son Biff. Evidence asserts that the statement is true since Willy opted to die and establish capital through insurance compensation which would allow his son start a business. In a critical review, if he would succeed in life he would potentially seek the respective ideas which would attract an adequate capital for him to start a business.

The play asserts that Willy had completely lost hope in meeting the dreams himself where he extended them to Biff. Such evidence emanates from the due care enhanced by Willy to Biff (Raw, 2011). He said to Biff” you are too young to be talking seriously to girls.” It is an assertion which seeks to keep Biff aside from girls and establish a good foundation in academics which would help him to establish a good business. Further, happy elucidates that Willy tries to discourage his son from athletes to engage in academics. It is a conclusion drawn at a time when Biff tries to inform his father how he is talented where he confronts it. Happy says, “He does not like it” in regard to the confrontation. The aspect is stressed by a condition where Willy asserts “you are young to see the truth and change your life”. Evidently, such arguments establish adequate conviction that Willy had no hope for success where he wanted the son to make the dream come into reality. However, the son is not business oriented and fails to fulfill it even after the father’s death. Evidently, such a platform would not work because it implies that he was very selective on the son’s life where freedom would not take its dimension.
The play illustrates a concept enhanced in the modern society where self-confidence is an intrinsic tool to manage dreams and aspirations. It is a platform where a significant figure of parents in the families endorses their children to take their perceived direction (Miller, 1994). Lack of such confidence manipulates them to establish a social relationship with the children so that they can control them as they understand one another. However, most of them turn unsuccessful since the concept violates their heart desire. Therefore, parents should establish sufficient personal confidence to lead their dreams and provide an opportunity for the children to take their dimension.
