Commentary on Don’t Even Think About It
Humanity is a complex setting with people being defined by diverse aspects that make them different from each other. However, people can hardly be unified by possessing similar aspects. Instead, one can only unite humanity by giving them a similar point of view with which they understand certain phenomena. In such sense, Marshall argues that getting people to have the same perception of climate change can only be done by sharing the information meant to create the desired viewpoint. For instance, through the spread of information to create awareness on climate change, the world’s major nations held a meeting to establish ways through which they could commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Marshall, 2015). For instance, it was through the spread of the information that climate change needed global attention that the nations were able to come to an understanding that they indeed required to make changes to protect the ozone layer.
Further, the solution to environmental problems can be obtained through helping people understand that they need to protect themselves from the issue. In environmental communication, information plays the role of creating new ideas and perceptions regarding problems (Marshall, 2015). Therefore, developing the understanding that climate change is a problem facing societies can reduce the ignorance witnessed among communities and nations. In such a context, Marshall guides readers into understanding that ignoring climate change issues is often because most people do not think it is their problem.

Wait! Environmental Communication paper is just an example!

Also, people assume that they have no power to address climate change issues (Marshall, 2015). In such a context, environmental communication can be involved in making sure that they understand how they can contribute towards maintaining a healthy environment and desirable climate. Through environmental communication, the people can realize their various roles as individuals to construct a better environment.
