Ethical Dilemmas
Ethical dilemmas are situations that present a hard instance of making a choice between two decisions with equal magnitude. They make an individual think hard about which decision to push through with and which one to turn down (Wells, 2007). The ethical dilemma I faced in the past was whether to report a homeless mother for stealing food at a food stall or whether to keep my mouth shut and let her eat the food with her a child. The dilemma was on what would be the right move to make.
The utility test applied in the test through analyzing the outcome of my decision. In looking at the outcome, I could easily say that the result of keeping quiet would see the mother and the child avoid starvation, it would, however, see the owner of the food stall make some loss. In applying utilitarian ethics, the decision I arrived at was made through analyzing weighing the two outcomes (Wells, 2007).
The deontological implication created by the dilemma I faced was on applying moral ethics on making the decision without taking into account the outcome. What would be the right moral duty to make in dealing with the stealing act without looking at the consequences that would come later?
In handling the dilemma, I decided to keep my mouth shut out of the empathy I had for the homeless mother with her child. From the class teachings, I have found out that judging the action without looking at the outcome is also important (Wells, 2007). I would however not change my decision since the outcome had a big impact on a human beings health and well-being.

If abased on the same scenario again, I would make the same decision without flinching.
