Getting Along at Work
To begin with, I am a charge nurse in XYZ healthcare centre. I used to convince myself of being capable of getting along well with everyone in the organization until I met a newly recruited colleague, Miss P. My coworker is not always ready to practice teamwork or even communicate to me about the main idea behind this issue. Though I have shared the situation with other nurses and the supervisors, it seems difficult for me to work peacefully due to her ignorance. Miss P reputation is difficult though she is very competent and an experienced nurse who the best skills to handle complex patients.
As a charge nurse, I have to face unique challenges like to manage patients and at the same time lead a team with little formal power. In that case, when I see miss P name on the work schedule, I brace myself for an inevitable confrontation which might arise when giving her patient care assignments. Lately, I received new graduates to work in the unit; thus, I needed to assign her two challenging patients. Miss P criticized my judgment and complained about me to everyone who was in the healthcare facility that day.
When everything is working out well with the team, we barely have problems (Lamiani, Giulia, Lidia Borghi, & Piergiorgio Argentero 62). However, when a family or staff member upset me while in the duty, my role as a charge nurse becomes much challenging and I might not provide the best services. I understand that we can all face some difficulties at times, but some characters like miss P could make it worse when they demonstrate weird behaviors or argue over a minor thing.
