How did the cold war events demonstrate a rejection of liberalism?

Ideologically, the cold war was meant to demonstrate which side of the argument was right and how to firm the doctrine of the communism and capitalism stand during these events that transpired during this time. The Soviet Union was the main proponent of the ideas of communism, and, on the other hand, the USA was the supporter of the ideas that favored the growth of capitalism in the World. Therefore, at this time people who rejected the side of the argument from their country were isolated and labeled as enemies (Baylis 45). The right to liberty was at the test. Generally, liberalism is a doctrine that seeks to perpetuate the right of the individuals in making decisions about their lives.
In July 1965, the war erupted in Vietnam when the USA sent 150000 soldiers to that country. The specifics of the war to this day are not known. At the time Vietnam had just got independence, and the leadership of the country was supportive of the ideas of the communism. The government of the USA at the time was aggressive towards the countries that supported the sustainability of the communism. Consequently, the course of the war was justifiable since Vietnam was among the main proponents of the communism. The USA was not willing in any way to relax on the annihilation of this philosophical system. Though, most of the people in the USA were against the war since they were not sufficiently informed about the source of the fight. The rejection of the liberalism was that people in the USA were not allowed to move to Vietnam as the government believed that their lives were in danger.

Correspondingly, Vietnams were not at liberty to get into the USA since they were viewed as a threat to the security of the USA.
The Berlin Wall was built by West Germany to separate it from East Germany. Different regions of the world supported each for the apparent reasons of either being a supporter of the communism or capitalism. The people of the two countries had no choice on the issue since the key determinant of the way things moved depended on the leadership of the countries. At least 200 people from East Germany dead when they were crossing the wall. However, the majority of the people managed to cross the other side. In connection to the above, the Germans were denied an opportunity to move across the boundary thereby debilitating their chances of growing businesses. They were not at liberty to move across the boundary thus exacerbating the effects of cold war on the rejection of liberalism.
The Cuba nuclear crisis was almost tumbling the world down. Following the events that unearthed the dirty secrets in Cuba, the president of the USA J.F. Kennedy was ready to use the military to thwart any move that was aimed at destroying the foundation of the USA. At the time, the government of Cuba was a dictatorship type of government. However, following the agreement between the leaders of the USA and the Soviet Union, the eminent danger was eliminated as the Soviet withdrew the weapons and the USA agreed not to start a war with Cuba. The rejection of the liberalism was that the good moving in and out of the USA to Cuba was stopped as the Americans saw it fit to stop any relationship with a country that was inclined to supporting the ideas of communism.
The Soviet Union was involved in a war with Afghanistan about 26 years ago. The Soviet Union sent troops Afghanistan who took control of the major cities in Afghanistan. The results of the war were catastrophic as the majority of the people were killed for no apparent reason. The people had no choice in the direction of the war. Since then, the country has not stabilized as the leadership of the country was assumed by the Taliban. The good relationship that existed by these two countries was terminated with the emergence of the war. Any trade relationships were thwarted. The mobility of the goods from one country to the other was eliminated.
During the times of cold war, people were not free to declare which sides of the debate they were in especially if it happened that they sided with the enemies. The underlying message is that people were not free to choose which side of the argument that was supported. People were compelled in subtle ways to support the agenda of their governments.
