To whosoever reads this, greetings from the digital era. Shepherd describes this period as characterized by technology enhancing the rapidity and range of information turnover within the economy and society (1). Individuals today are capable of consuming large amounts of information all at once as a result of the Internet. Books and literary opinions are available online reducing the mobility of students to institutions that accommodate learning such as the library.
In the future, are there any more books? Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn is one of my favorite texts and comparing the period the author describes (when experts in the community taught individuals), and today, there are significant changes. Students today can choose between various fields of knowledge with the decision of a factor in their future professions.
The rise of smartphones and advancement of storage devices have made it possible for students to carry large amounts of texts without having to tire from heavy loads on their backs. Books are still valued as they provide a standard for students in the classroom to learn together without the confusions arising from the use of technology.
Star Trek, a popular scientific television series from the 20th Century describes space as the final frontier. Experts are currently making plans to travel to Mars, and I hope it becomes possible. Due to the Industrial and Digital Eras progresses, students can learn away from home from experts in their field in institutions specializing in various forms of knowledge.
