APPLICATION ESSAY
Dear Sir/Madam
I am ————————–, and I am applying for the program on ——————————– in your esteemed University. I have been really encouraged by the field of medical electronics and biomedical engineering, from my college days. A personal statement to that is submitted through this application. I would be sincerely obliged, if my personal statement and achievements are kindly reviewed for the needful.
Personal Statement
When I was in school, the field of biological sciences attracted me the most. I was puzzled and astonished by the functioning of a human body. The autorhythmicity of the myocardial junctional tissues attracted me very much. As I learnt the electrophysiological aspects of the cell membrane, the generation of resting membrane potential and the generation of action potentials, I was absolutely spellbound. In fact, I realized that our body is just like a machine, and various electronic circuits are in-built in our body itself. This initiated by the passion for electrophysiology and clinical sciences.
I learnt the utility and usefulness of this field of clinical sciences, when my father suffered from right bundle branch block. Everybody in our family was sad and bereaved. The physician recommended pacemaker implant in my father. This happened when I was in my high school. My father got admitted and was back home with the implant. Then I learnt the real miracle of medical electronics, as a science which brings back the smile to the members of a family.

Wait! Medicine Admission essay paper is just an example!

Initially, the field of pharmacology also appealed me. However, as I saw my father was performing his daily activities with a pacemaker on the chest, I became inclined to the specialty of medical electronics and biomedical engineering.
With a dream of pursuing a career in biomedical engineering, I did my BS in Biomedical Engineering Technology from DeVry University. I received a high CGPA and was encouraged to take up specialty practice in this field. In this endeavor, I initiated my entry into the clinical world at Holy Family Medical Centre and University of Chicago Medical Center. In both these institutions, I worked as a volunteer to guide patients to various departments. From this volunteering, I learned regarding the medical exigencies, and the “golden hour” of treatment. I was extremely satisfied, since I was creating a difference in patient’s life, with my actions. I also delivered medicines and laboratory specimens which helped me from a practical perspective.
I learnt the benefits of MRI and Computed Tomography scan in these institutes. From my experience in the emergency department at Rush Oak Park Hospital, I really learnt the aspects of early intervention and clinical management of a critical patient. Since, the field of biomedical instrumentation attracted me; I enrolled for an Internship at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. It is here where I performed preventive maintenance of infusion pumps, incubators and defibrillators. I also provided help to the radiology team and performed on-site sterilization of operating and surgical instruments. I was offered Assistant position at the American Society of Safety Engineers and was finally placed as Biomedical Engineer at the St. Johns Medical Center. In this job profile, I independently managed various biomedical instruments and communicated with staff nurses and physicians regarding the qualitative aspects of care.
With my modest experience in clinical sciences and extensive experience in biomedical technology, I want to get admitted in the Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering, in your reputed institute. I assure you of my commitments and perseverance in academics and implementation of such knowledge in practice. I could share my technical expertise with my peers, who are coming from a pure clinical background. My Resume is attached for your kind consideration:
