Despite the fact that the usage of the body cameras might seem to be invading police or the public privacy, the police officers are supposed to wear the body cameras. It is mainly because the cameras would help improve the police’s public’s view through reflecting the humanoid side. They would also help in providing appropriate evidence when an individual might not be in a position to do so and protect both the public and the officers. Protecting these two parties is essential parts of policing and thus crucial to wear these cameras.

Most of the individuals have been complaining about the increased racism where most police officers torture the blacks who have not committed crimes while they give way to the whites who have not observed the laid laws. The above statement can be either true or false and thus the importance of wearing these cameras to come up with the truth concerning this matter. Therefore, it becomes much essential to wear the police cameras to fight against crimes, torture, and racism. The police cameras will not only protect the police officers but also reduce if not doing away with the shooting of public members often the blacks. It is through wearing of these cameras that would unmask the masks of thousands of cases which are heard by the trial judges who involve themselves in charges of excessive force and a false arrest made by the police officers.

Each year there emerges numerous police officers’ complaints through the act of using their weapons allegedly and power in the ways which are not in line with the right and appropriate procedures of the police. The police cameras become essential to be worn to minimize unpleasant and torturing cases which are unnecessary. In this case, it is through wearing of these cameras that could have documented well the shooting of ‘the Tamir Rice” who was twelve years during the year 2014 in the Cleveland, Ohio as suggested by Birds and Sousa, (13). In this particular case, the reports of the officers differed mostly from that of the accuser concerning what happened. It is only through video documentation that could provide the best answer and make the police officers responsible not to shoot anyhow. Instead, they should protect all citizens of the country while they punish the wrongdoers only through utilization of the right procedures. Requiring the police officers to wear the cameras will allow them to be more transparent while performing their daily jobs.
According to Wood (233), the world continues to evolve which has, in turn, made the individuals live in the technology era. It is during this era that the technology is being used widely to provide access to crucial and required information at the button’s touch. The cell phones used by almost every person are equipped with the cameras which are capable of documenting any event that one chooses to record. If the technology is being used widely and is on every person’s fingertips, then why not allow the police officers adapt to the changing environment through requiring them as well wear the cameras?
Wearing of the cameras continues to be a barrier and hindrance to many while others reject the act of wearing these cameras. Most of them argue that the cameras are capturing even the private life of the police officers such as holding a certain confidential conversation with loved ones and their friends as well as when they go to their private spaces such as one’s home. Others put across that there is infringing on potential suspect’s right when the police officers record what the suspect is not willing to be recorded. The mentioned arguments concerning negative side of wearing cameras account for the only small percentage of the disapproval, and no harm can be caused by what they outline. It is because the relevant person can opt not to watch events happening in private places and during one’s own time.
People tend to behave more differently when they get aware that they are being watched and thus no exception to the police. The officers who are wearing the body cameras are going to be more respectful and less aggressive while interacting with community members. These officers will as well be more reluctant in using force except when it is necessary for protecting the public and themselves. It is through wearing of the police cameras that will reduce the use of the excessive and unnecessary force by the police officers which will, in turn, be most beneficial for both the community and the police officers.
It is through the usage of body cameras that the police officers get protected as well. The individual will not be capable of claiming that the police officer kicked or punched him without any cause while in reality, it is clear that it is that person who initiated happenstance through attacking or threatening the police officer. The record which is contemptuous of the exact things of what happened should make the incidence more clearly on whether the police officer was supposed and justified to use force. Every individual has the right of action in response to the self-defense as pinpointed by Stoughton (9). The video normally present the account of the events which is unbiased and have no stake in the real outcome and thus eliminating motive of lying.
Technology has been improving rapidly, and the police should not be exceptional to using it since it aids in the collection of concrete evidence which is very reliable since the events are recorded by the cameras. The police behave in the right way when they are getting watched, and this enables the public get adequate protection from getting discriminated based on the race. On the other hand, the police officers get protected from false statements when they record what happens and thus beneficial to the two parties which encourages me to support wearing of the cameras by the police officers fully.
