Article Reflection
The Negro Family: The Case for National Action is a report that evoked a lot of controversy upon its release in the year 1965. Writing the report is based on the status of the black family and its effect on the whole American society. The position of the Negro American`s full recognition as an American citizen began with civil rights movement, leading to the 1964 Civil Rights Act enactment. Other underlying problems affecting the black Americans and were as crucial as championing for their right of recognition include the economic disparity, and black families urge to attain the American dream. Moynihan noted that for this to happen, there was a need to put in effort in that endeavor (Moynihan 1-2).
In my opinion, Moynihan highlighted two important reasons for the issues that affect black people. First, the racism factor was still an issue among black Americans because the prejudices and views did not end with the declaration of the civil rights. Secondly, the centuries of harsh and inhumane treatment had a negative effect on the black people. They are not equal in any aspect to the people they are competing with. The family structure as a whole suffered the most. The families who were struggling had crumbled because of the disintegration of social relationships. There was a need for a nationalistic outlook on the whole issue because the problem on the dysfunctional element of the family unit of the black people was not just an issue for the black race but the entire American nation.

Wait! reflection paper 4 paper is just an example!

The release of The Negro Family: The Case for National Action, made many people assume that the issues of assimilation of black people into the society would take its course and sort itself out with time through legal processes. However, I opine that this was a very flawed view because, without any effort done to aid such a predicament, it would only get worse. Additionally, getting to the root of the problem was the underlying issue in the report. The black people had no advantage economically because most of them were uneducated and could only get jobs of a particular class. Education determined the employability factor. Family stability affected education because, without it, children had no access to the amenities, resulting in delinquent behavior and crime involvement.
In my view, The Negro Family report had one particular line of thought as there needed to be one design or path in dealing with the issues brought about as a result of the previous years. Effort from all quarters is necessary in order to right wrongs from the past years. Additionally, the black Americans needed to feel they had a sense of belonging in the ‘new’ America. The issues of poverty, as well as lack of resources among the black people, have to be looked into to bring about the important aspect of equality among all the different races, from the black people to the white. Any policy instituted needed to have the element of inclusion and show effort towards the achievement of this goal. The paper is a reflection on the status of America at the time and remains relevant to this day because the inequality of resource allocation and access to equal opportunities are looming problems still present in today`s American society.
